I still can't believe school never taught us anything about mortgages, credit scores, savings, taxes, or how politics actually impacts our lives. No proper lessons on budgeting, rent, interest, or how to avoid drowning in debt once you reach adulthood. But somehow we had time to learn cursive handwriting, complicated algebra we've never used since, the cells of a leaf, Venn diagrams, and how to set magnesium on fire with a Bunsen burner. Funny how school prepared us for exams, but barely prepared us for real life.
In my office we have people of different political persuasions, but no #FREEPALESTİNE types. Considering how big & vocal they seem, I initially thought this was odd. Then I realised most of them don't work, claim benefits, have fake pompous jobs or mummy & daddy pay for them.

The fact that Muslim communities are far more homophobic than other social groups has been exhaustively proven through a plethora of surveys and studies. Feel free to read my recent column on the matter, which presents just a slice of the existing lit.
In a particularly disturbing example, a 2016 poll found that 52% of British Muslims believed that homosexuality should be illegal in their country, while only 5% of the general population felt the same way.
Islamic homophobia is an empirically measured reality, and one that presents a real and growing threat to my safety as a gay man. If you don't like having Muslim communities criticized for their prejudices, then go fix this problem by convincing them to abandoin their barbaric attitudes towards LGBTQ people.
In general, if immigrants are unable to accept gay rights, then they should return to their home countries, where they can be free to indulge in their hatreds among their own people.

Prices in the UK just feel completely made up now.
How does a weekend in England cost £700 when you can fly abroad for less?
A return train to London is £160.
The same house that rented for £600 is now £1,200.
A full tank of fuel is over £100.
Car insurance goes up 50% despite the same car, no claims and nothing changing.
£100 in the supermarket somehow gets you two bags of shopping.
And we're all just expected to accept this as normal?
How did we get to the point where being ripped off became part of everyday life?
