It's become painfully clear that structuring our whole society around maximising profit instead of the wellbeing of people and planet was a REALLY terrible idea.

On 19 July 2024, I published two posts on my X account in which I made allegations about Mr Mothin Ali being involved in the Harehills riots. I have accepted these were incorrect and I have jointly made a statement in open Court in order to apologise to Mr Ali and correct the record which is below.

Former Head of MI6 Sir John Sawers, "Russia was very keen that the Leave campaign should succeed and that Britain should leave the European Union"
"Because that would marginalise Britain as a global player and weaken Europe in general"
"That's the strategic opportunity the Russians spotted, and the leaders of the Leave campaign fell into it"
My view: Former MI6 chief Sir John Sawers says Russia saw Brexit as a way to weaken Britain and divide Europe, and that the Leave campaign’s leaders walked straight into the opportunity.
So let’s remember who sold it:
VOTE LEAVE
• Boris Johnson — political figurehead
• Michael Gove and Gisela Stuart — campaign committee co-convenors
• Matthew Elliott — chief executive
• Dominic Cummings — campaign director
• Daniel Hannan — leading Brexit advocate
• Priti Patel, Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling, John Whittingdale and Theresa Villiers — senior Conservative campaigners
• David Davis, Liam Fox, Dominic Raab, Steve Baker and Douglas Carswell — prominent Leave campaigners
LEAVE. EU
• Nigel Farage — leading political figure
• Arron Banks — co-chairman and major funder
• Andy Wigmore — communications director
GRASSROOTS OUT / LABOUR LEAVE
• Peter Bone and Tom Pursglove — Grassroots Out co-founders
• Kate Hoey — Grassroots Out co-founder and Labour Leave campaigner
• Graham Stringer, Kelvin Hopkins and Roger Godsiff — Labour Leave campaigners
• Sammy Wilson — prominent DUP Leave campaigner
They promised Brexit would make Britain stronger.
Sawers says Russia saw the opposite opportunity: a Britain marginalised and a Europe weakened.

The United States convinced Ukraine to willingly give up their nuclear weapons by promising to protect them from Russian aggression. Here we are, decades later, betraying their trust. Those who support Vladimir Putin are the enemies of freedom and democracy

For the first time, the British government has acknowledged that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
So who did BBC Newsnight invite on to discuss what happened? Sergei Markov, Putin’s former spokesman.
Par for the course, says Nerve co-founder @carolecadwalla…

Replying to @RobertJenrick
Oh fuck off. Honest Bob Jenrick's claim that "4 in 5 new jobs were taken by migrants" is misleading.
Jenrick's claim rests on a calculation by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), the right-wing think tank founded and chaired by Iain Duncan Smith, which funding-transparency site Who Funds You? gave a D grade, the second-lowest transparency rating, in September 2023.
It was then amplified by the Telegraph. While the basic arithmetic roughly holds, at each step the claim drifts further from what the data shows.
1. They are not "new jobs".
The figure compares HMRC payroll counts in December 2014 and December 2025. That is a net change, not a count of jobs created.
Millions of jobs open and close every year, and most are filled by UK nationals. In fact, people who were non-UK citizens when they registered for National Insurance held 20% of employee jobs in December 2025, up from 12% in 2014. Four in five payroll jobs are still held by UK nationals.
2. The numbers don't relate to individual people.
The data counts payrolled employments, so one person with two jobs is counted twice. The Telegraph's own chart says as much.
3. Many of the "migrants" are British.
HMRC records nationality once, when someone first registers for National Insurance, and naturalisation is not recorded.
Someone who arrived in 2015 and became a British citizen in 2021 is still a "migrant" in this data. HMRC itself says this makes non-UK figures higher than the true counts.
4. "Taken" implies displacement the data cannot show.
The CSJ says jobs "went to" non-UK nationals. Jenrick says they were "taken". The figures show who holds jobs, not whether anyone lost out. The Migration Advisory Committee found that, across all immigrants over the full period studied, there was no statistically significant impact of migration on employment.
5. The time frame drives the result.
By the Telegraph's own chart, UK nationals accounted for roughly half the payroll growth between 2014 and 2019. The "one in five" figure depends on the 2021 to 2023 visa surge, which happened under the Conservative government in which Jenrick himself was Immigration Minister.
6. Self-employment is excluded.
PAYE data leaves out roughly four million self-employed people, so it does not measure all work.
In short, a narrow payroll statistic, which counts employments rather than people and permanently labels naturalised Britons as migrants, has become a claim about "new jobs" being "taken".
The underlying data supports neither word.
This fits a familiar Reform pattern: take a statistic, often from an opaquely funded right-wing think tank, strip away its caveats, and recast it as proof that migrants are taking something from “the British people”. Whatever the intent, the effect is the same: a narrow, heavily qualified finding becomes a story of grievance and resentment.
It's wrong, divisive, misleading and pathetic.

That’s pretty crazy for so many reasons, the main being the fact that Markov is so insignificant in the Russian regime hierarchy that he cannot possibly know anything about Russian interference in the UK electoral processes.

Reform UK is complaining to Ofcom and engaging lawyers about an ITV investigation produced by Hardcash Productions. That's the same production company behind major investigations such as Undercover Mosque, Saudi Arabia Uncovered, Undercover in Britain's New Far Right, Russell Brand: In Plain Sight, and Fearless: The Women Fighting Putin, the latter winning a BAFTA. Hardcash has also won multiple Emmys, BAFTAs, Peabody Awards and Royal Television Society awards for its investigative journalism.
Of course, if Reform believes broadcasting rules have been broken, it's entitled to make a complaint and Ofcom can decide the facts. But it's worth remembering that these allegations are being made against one of Britain's most established investigative production companies, with a long track record of award-winning public interest journalism.
Meanwhile, Reform itself has spent much of the past year facing scrutiny over its funding and donation arrangements, including allegations arising from undercover investigations and ongoing inquiries. Reform denies wrongdoing, but the contrast is striking: a multi-award-winning investigative producer accused by a political party that has itself been repeatedly forced to answer questions about its finances and donors.
Complaining to Ofcom is easy. Discrediting the credibility of a production company with a record of BAFTAs, Emmys and some of the biggest investigative scoops in British television is rather harder.
I for one can't wait to see it, and I'm sure the timing of its release will be perfect.
