China’s post 1990s generation of AI talent is something to behold. One thing that has caught my attention is the age of the people building China’s frontier AI. Kimi’s founder was born in 1992. Many of the teams behind MiniMax, Seedance, Zhipu, and other leading AI companies are dominated by engineers born in the 1990s and early 2000s. This isn’t limited to AI. This year’s Fields Medals also went to two Chinese mathematicians from the same generation. I don’t think these are isolated events. They may be early signals of a much deeper trend: what we’re witnessing is not just an AI boom, but the emergence of a new generation of scientific and engineering talent in China. One possible explanation is education. After the Cultural Revolution ended, China’s education system was gradually rebuilt. The generation that became today’s parents of many 90s and 00s children benefited from that recovery, and many placed an extraordinary emphasis on education. The result may be the first generation of Chinese researchers and entrepreneurs raised in families where higher education had become both accessible and deeply valued. If this hypothesis is right, AI is only the beginning. We may see the same generation produce breakthroughs not only in frontier models, but also in quantum computing, biology, mathematics, computer science, and many other fields over the coming decades.

AI deflation is starting to hit. @nebiusai is rapidly increasing its GPU prices: H100: $2.95/hr → $3.85/hr B200: $5.50/hr → $7.15/hr This is what the capital shift into AI looks like. As intelligence becomes abundant, most goods, labor, and even fiat currencies may fall in relative value against AI infrastructure assets: compute, energy, chips, data centers. AI infrastructure is becoming monetary infrastructure.
JUST IN🚨: $NBIS is increasing prices by 30% on the STANDARD on-demand pricing, effective June 1st. The demand is INSANE and this price increase goes straight to the bottom line.

‘The world is changing. AI—the biggest frontier models—can fit on a tiny flash card. They are essentially copyable, so every human on Earth can have them. We can actually bring abundance to billions of people around the world if we manage to make these technologies universally accessible.’ @DaLiberman at LA Hacks 2026. youtube.com/watch?v=NtZrvn-B…

The Libermans were one of our first 'creator style' investments at @slow where we bet on them holistically to do interesting importand and different things vs. just backing a single project / company. Super cool to see them innovating here and exploring edge ideas.
Thanks to the amazing Discord community of 4,000 people, over $100M/year worth of compute joined @gonka_ai just three months after its launch. And today @BitfuryGroup joined the common effort to build the world’s largest truly decentralized AI compute network. With a $50M injection, the leader in decentralized infrastructure and the creator of the first industrial-grade ASIC for Bitcoin mining has placed its bet on Gonka.ai

.@BitfuryGroup just made its largest decentralized AI compute bet to date: a $50M phase-one commitment into next-generation GPU infrastructure. This is why I believe the architecture behind GONKA represents a ‘Bitcoin moment’ for AI 👇 medium.com/@bitfurygeorge/go…

Ok, it's clear that tariffs are completely based on import/export balance with each country, and penalizing countries for trade deficit. Check the data the post bellow. So now we know that, the question is, why? Why are they trying to balance trade deficit? Is there a deeper reason? As it's not focused on the reducing import absolute numbers, but rather on relative deficit numbers, the only reason I can see is Lower Dependence on Foreign Capital and Currency Stability, so it might be related on a credit crisis risks.
Replying to @JamesSurowiecki
Indeed, rechecked the numbers. docs.google.com/spreadsheets… Correlation is 99.7%, and probably because i am using a different data source. This is crazy! Also probably the weird sorting order can be explained by trade deficit.

We just launched Corca—a collaborative math editor. The main idea: there’s no 'text editor' for math. If you want to work on equations on a computer, there’s no app designed for that—so the only real option is paper. ↓

I have a dog in the AI fight, and my bet is on open vs closed. Those who want closed want regulatory capture, but don’t take into account long term controls of such a thing, which is left to the whims of potential dictators. Even though I love those guys over at FF, I think in the short term they will be right (financially), but in the long term on the wrong side of history. We had the same debates about encryption back in the day and whether it was a “munition”. No joke.

Gen Z is out of college. The generation known for blazing its own path is starting a new trend: skipping college entirely. 4 million fewer people enrolled in college in 2022 compared to 2012. by @dandefrancesco from @thisisinsider

“give yourself a lot of shots to get lucky” is even better advice than it appears on the surface. luck isn’t an independent variable but increases super-linearly with more surface area—you meet more people, make more connections between new ideas, learn patterns, etc.
