ALT Hi Jess, First I want to thank you for all your advocacy and devotion here. I’ve followed you for awhile and I appreciate your voice here more than you know. I want to share something with you, but I’d rather do it here to remain anonymous. And I’ve only been ready now to share this. My daughter was born with a rare heart disorder and spent most of her life in and out of hospitals. 10 months ago at a routine checkup she caught covid. I know it was there because it was the only place we had went to. We have been in full isolation since this began. I wonder if her seal was not 100% but we were surrounded by so many children and nurses who either had blue surgical masks or none at all. She was admitted to the ICU where she fought for her life.

ALT COVID killed my 12 year old daughter. Yes, she had a heart condition, but this doesn’t change the fact that she was no longer safe in a medical environment. She was robbed of me, robbed of her life, and I’ve struggled with guilt, depression. I can’t describe the pain. Writing this has me shaking, because I can’t believe she’s gone. Reading about hospitals removing masks has me floored. Because I know that so many more children will die. Fragile children, healthy children. This will rob so many more of their lives. I don’t know how to go on most days. But I’m grateful for you and for so many of us still fighting. Thank you for giving me this safe space Be well
