South Carolina Governor @henrymcmaster recently signed an Executive Order establishing the Governor's Conservation Commission.
The commission will advise the state on strategies to conserve its natural resources and habitat, facilitate collaboration among state, local, and federal entities, and encourage voluntary conservation practices on private lands, such as working lands easements.
DU has conserved more than 225,000 acres in South Carolina, and we look forward to supporting this new commission.
Thank you, Governor, for prioritizing the preservation of South Carolina's rich outdoor heritage! #DuckPolicy

DU has been awarded $5.79 million from the @NFWFnews to restore and enhance more than 14,500 acres of grasslands across North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Through the Grassland Resilience and Conservation Initiative, DU is partnering with NFWF, McDonald’s USA, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, beef and beverage suppliers, and agricultural producers to strengthen the resilience of working grasslands.
The result? More native grass, healthier soils and water resources, improved habitat for wildlife, and a more resilient foundation for beef production!

Yesterday, Mike McShane, DU’s Advisory Senior VP for Public Policy, was presented with the Order of the Palmetto by @SenatorCampsen on behalf of Governor @henrymcmaster.
Recognition in the Order is the state of South Carolina’s highest civilian honor. It is presented in recognition of a lifetime of extraordinary achievement, service, and contributions on a national or statewide scale. The Order of the Palmetto recognizes individuals who have selflessly given their time, resources, and goodwill through a variety of different causes and pursuits to the benefit of their neighbors, fellow citizens, and the fabric and prosperity of South Carolina.
Mike embodies all of these ideals, and his steady leadership and unmatched dedication have helped conserve and connect habitat in the Lowcountry and around the Palmetto State, helping make the state a better place to live. We are proud that Governor McMaster has given him this well-deserved recognition.

During our Washington, DC Fly-in, @DucksPresident Bob Spoerl, DU volunteers, & college students noticed a familiar sight while walking through the underground tunnel connected to the U.S. Capitol - the duck head.
Since 1982, as part of the Congressional Art Competition, Members of Congress select one piece of artwork, painted by a local high school student from their district, to hang in this hallway for one year.
This artwork is titled "Favorite Season" by Max Warren, from @WaysandMeansGOP Chairman @RepJasonSmith's district in Missouri.
The passion and enthusiasm for DU's mission can be found in the most unlikely places, even in the Halls of Congress. This artwork is seen by hundreds of visitors each day, and it inspired DU volunteers this week as they advocated for wetlands conservation on Capitol Hill.
Max – duck season is our favorite season, too! #DuckPolicy
