USC upsets No. 2 Ohio State 30-18
On Halloween night at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, USC (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten) upset Ohio State (6-2, 4-1) 27-18 in one of the biggest games in Head Coach Lincoln Riley’s tenure at USC.
The effort was spearheaded by an early 69-yard touchdown from freshman wide receiver Trent Mosley in the first quarter, and a strong game from redshirt senior quarterback Jayden Maiava helped the Trojans keep the lead throughout the game.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter and a Halloween upset brewing, redshirt sophomore kicker Caden Chittenden put up a 32-yard kick to make it 30-18 USC. Less than two minutes remain in the contest as Ohio State’s offense runs back onto the field.
Touchdown Buckeyes.
Following a long 12-play drive, the Buckeyes score their first touchdown of the game with freshman quarterback Luke Fahey connecting with junior wide receiver Jeremiah Smith for a one-yard catch.
While the Trojans advanced 22 yards, they were not able to put any points on the board, resulting in a 38-yard punt from sophomore punter Lachlan Carrigan. Nonetheless, the drive still took nearly four minutes off the clock, with eight minutes remaining in this contest.
Another punt, this time for the Buckeyes, thanks to a sack by redshirt senior defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren that pushed Ohio State’s offense back.
USC’s offense will take over on its own 40-yard line with under 12 minutes remaining.
USC fails to strike back after Ohio State’s field goal, giving the ball back to the Buckeyes with a little over 13 minutes to go. Ohio State will start on its own 15-yard line.

TOUCHDOWN TROJANS.
Following a fumble by the Buckeyes and a massive 70-yard hurdling catch-and-run from freshman tight end Mark Bowman, redshirt sophomore running back King Miller takes it to the house for a 1-yard touchdown score, further extending USC’s lead.
Following a 15-yard penalty on the Trojan defense, sophomore running back Isaiah West caught a pass freshman quarterback Luke Fahey, but fumbled the ball on a tackle from junior linebacker Desman Stephens II and secured by USC’s sophomore defensive tackle Floyd Boucard.
Ohio State’s defense responds right back, forcing a three-and-out by the Trojan offense. Whether it’s the rain or another factor, both offenses have struggled to pass and run to start the third quarter.
The Trojan defense forces a three-and-out to start the second half strong. With a crucial stop for no gain on third down, Ohio State was forced to punt.
USC takes its first possession of the second half at its own 29-yard line after a 39-yard punt, looking to strike first.
