Christianity Today has seen about half its staff quit or laid off in the last 14 mos. Former employees told me that new business leaders have intervened in editorial decisions & are effectively abandoning the outlet's commitment to independent journalism. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/ch…

When we do not understand an abuser's capacity for deceit, we make it easy for the offender to continue in deception and, sadly, often call it “grace.” If it lacks truth, then it is not grace.

Bully Pulpit: Confronting the Problem of Spiritual Abuse in the Church by @michaeljkruger
hardcover: $14.08
'Spiritual abuse is one of the greatest stains on the bride of Christ today. Too few with pulpits and platforms are willing to recognize the basic truths that Michael Kruger addresses clearly, convincingly, and biblically. I thought Bully Pulpit would be a book every pastor and Christian leader ought to read. But I changed my mind: every Christian from pulpit to pew needs to read this wise and timely work--for the sake of the church and her people.'
-- @KSPrior, research professor of English and Christianity & Culture at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and author of On Reading Well
'The apostle Paul tells us the overseer of God's people is not to be a bully, but gentle (1 Tim. 3:3, CSB), and yet we too often overlook significant character issues or actions that should be disqualifying for ministry because of how God seems to be using an individual or growing a church. Bully Pulpit provides wise and measured reflections on the reality of shepherds who reject Christ's vision of leadership and leave spiritual destruction in the wake of their sin. I hope this important book prompts serious discussion among God's people.'
-- @TrevinWax, vice president of research and resource development at the North American Mission Board and visiting professor at Cedarville University, author of The Thrill of Orthodoxy

Nothing prepares you to build a “Christian society” and take over denominations quite like listening to a tech billionaire lecture you on the Antichrist at a Masonic lodge.

In 1934, we added a gender-neutral pronoun for a single third person.
‘Thon’ was short for “that one.”
It didn’t catch on.

It dishonors victims when we are silent about their experience or pretend it did not occur or was not important.

What happened was wrong.
I am damaged by it.

“I often imagine sitting down with my 11-year-old self, sharing coffee and quiet moments.
I would tell her she isn’t a failure. That her pain doesn’t define her. That walking away from people who hurt her isn’t abandonment—it’s survival.” twloha.com/blog/healing-isnt…

Someone to me just now about moves by certain “leaders” in the church:
“It’s a sign that there’s no bottom to it all.”
Sadly, this is absolutely correct.
Happily, Jesus saw and addressed all this, too.

“We want to sit down like anyone else.”
On this day in 1960, my father joined students and local activists in a nonviolent protest against segregation at Rich’s department store in downtown Atlanta. He was among 52 people arrested for refusing to leave.
They risked their freedom to challenge the humiliation and exclusion of Black people seeking equal treatment.
Their courage reminds us that nonviolence requires us to confront injustice, including when it is enforced by law.
Let’s honor them by refusing to accept injustice as normal and continuing the work to create the Beloved Community.

'Speed' derives from the Old English 'spēd,' which referred to good fortune/success.
This sense of 'speed' lives on in 'Godspeed':
"God spede you" = "God prosper you"
We hope this brings you up to speed.
