Sixth grade was happy to try out lesson from the WCPSS library lesson plan bank. We learned about digital cookies.
Starbooks Cafe in the library last week was a fun chance to try out new genres and Kagan structures.
Our students aren't old enough to vote in this presidential election yet, but they are certainly learning about government and the electoral college now. So happy to see @kerihagadornESL using the hallway outside library as part of her classroom today. 🫰🏻🫰🏻
Our Student Library Advisory Crew (aka SLACkers) finished the statement "The library is an important part of our school because/but/so..." The answers for all 3 were enlightening, but it makes me proud that Ss feel our library is important because it's inclusive.

ALT Handwritten message on paper. Text reads: "The library is an important part of our school BECAUSE..." Different handwritten responses read: "it gives us access to books to help imagination," "it makes sure all students are connected with technology," "good for reading," "it helps people find what books they like," "it helps with our ELA education," "it helps recommend my imagination and learning," "it makes sure everyone has a chance to get a book," "the library is a place for everyone," "it's a community," "it helps is learn and grow in many ways."
Our MLLs/ESL students got to play library vocabulary loteria this week to review common phrases and words from the library.
That last week before trackout was wildly busy in the learning commons! We were reflective with #breakoutedu on musical figurative language, collaborative in solving equations with #giantmathwinder, and creative with experimentation in STEM challenges. Can't wait for Q4!
Our teachers are getting ready for the @DRMSdolphins Family STEM Challenge on March 26. Lots of laughter today in grade level as our teachers "tried out" the challenge activities. Today is the last day to register at bit.ly/drmsstemnight
ECS students read about Chester Nez and the Navajo code talkers today. We learned about other secret codes and cyphers. We all decoded these special joke messages to test our skills. I was so impressed!
Let's Celebrate Black Voices in #BlackHistoryMonth and all year. And can we just appreciate how perfectly Alicia D Williams' Genesis Begins Again matches the Baldwin poster from @learnforjustice.
The phenomenal @thebookiv read from her upcoming book & spoke with our @DRMSdolphins about defeating writer's block & having positive mindset about what you create. She also answered the hard hitting question of whether or not she owns a Stanley cup. 😂 Happy #WorldReadAloudDay
Received the sweetest thank you note today from an incredible student. Getting excited and passionate about the things our students are excited and passionate about creates connection.
It's been almost two years since I broke out the #giantmathwinder game. I just love the huddles that happen as you communicate and collaborate for your operations and strategy. @DRMSdolphins
What do you think @MissDunbar3 (library novice)? Think we can find books to read that have the same vibe as the songs?
Librarians, don't be caught off guard at the end of October when 1989 TV comes out. Be prepared and feel free to use my display materials here! ourlivelylibrary.weebly.com/…

Oh how I miss the sunshine of my ECS friends. I'm singing all of their names loudly today. Good thing little one doesn't mind me being off key. Or does she? 😉
Replying to @DRMSMedia
@DRMSMedia may be in maternity leave but she left an amazing lesson / story for us today !! We had fun “singing “our names ! 🐬🐬🎶🎤 Thank you Ms Aldridge !
Thank you so much to Wake Electric for the #BrightIdeasgrant that allowed us to get our @DRMSdolphins school podcast off the ground. Thank you to students in #DolphinsUnified and @HokePam for being our very first interview. open.spotify.com/episode/5JK…
For our 2nd annual SLAC celebration, we had our trad. Crumbl cookies. This year, we added book trivia inspired by @stacymcanulty. The students were engaged & competitive. I will miss these 8th graders who were quite dedicated to our library. #drmsreads canva.com/design/DAFnDJNevhI…
