There is absolutely no logical reason why someone who has a mortgage should pay property tax while someone who owns their house outright should not. "I own my house, therefore I shouldn't pay property tax" is a total non sequitur.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…

Solidarity with grad students at Buffalo Poetics, who have released a website detailing the program’s recent hostile takeover. Unfortunately, they’re being treated like many grad students are, given contradictory info from faculty & admin, then being kicked out of discussions.

"Money can't buy taste" is actually kind of a anti-class signifier. Like, yeah, it can't. Once you have enough money you have no real reason to want to look tasteful if it's not your style. Looking "classy" is mostly important to people who are *striving* to look rich.
Why does Lauren Sánchez always look so vulgar? There’s a difference between being wealthy and having class, and no amount of money in the world can buy the latter.

The Replacement's 'Tim' is as powerful an evocation of working class life as any by Springsteen or Pulp. Resentment and joy dwell in nearly every detail: bus route-courtships, scared-but-stalwart-single-mothers and the watering holes where every night dreams both blossom and die.

Steven explains that 'learning a new piece of music often feels to me like a love affair': one such infatuation was Keith Jarrett performing 'My song'. Steven transcribed this after months of listening and says that playing it 'felt almost like touching something sacred'.

Deeply honored (and a little daunted) to serve as the next leader of the research team for @slavevoyages as Harvard takes over as the new institutional home for the project. Looking forward to the hard work of sustaining and improving this public resource! news.ucsc.edu/2026/10/uc-san…

The way they've used every single avenue available to force the personality cult down our throats has doubtlessly been part of the backlash against Trump this term.
I love this president and I love this coin.

Ah yes. The media didn't cover inflation at all in 2022 when it was surging. Nope. Not even a little bit. Seriously. These people deny the most basic aspects of reality.
At this point, one has to wonder what we're beefing about every day. Would you look at this freaking chart, when it was 3X higher a few years ago and no one in the media gave a crap? Hell, it's lower than it was two months ago.

This is an F-16 Block 72. It has an internal M61A1 20mm Vulcan rotary cannon. Again, please do not let your Roman Empire dreams permit you to forget how "guns" and "planes" work.
You're forgetting to include Rome's expertise in politics. Besides their military strength, Rome conquered what they did by making temporary allies with certain barbarian tribes to fight each other & keep them weak, only to absorb them much later. Then, you raise new armies off the territories you conquer.

We need to sever the investigatory parts of the federal government from direct executive control. I haven't figured out an alternative, but we've proven that the system can't survive a malicious and corrupt executive.
Billions of dollars’ worth of contracts predicting oil would fall and the S&P 500 would rise were placed about 15 minutes before Trump announced a U-turn on Iran in a post on Truth Social. CFTC staff began to investigate-- then were told to lay off. bloomberg.com/news/features/…
