what your bearded dragon can eat greens fruits & vegetables (P1-2) Daily staple greens These can form the base of the salad most days: • Collard greens • Mustard greens • Turnip greens • Dandelion greens and flowers (only unsprayed / pesticide-free) • Endive • Escarole • Arugula (rocket) • Watercress • Cactus pads / nopal / prickly pear pads (all spines and glochids removed) • Pea shoots • Spring mix (only if it is mostly dark greens and contains little or no spinach) • Carrot tops / carrot greens • Chicory • Radicchio • Bok choy / pak choi (fine in rotation; some sources treat it as a regular mixer rather than a daily-only base) Regular vegetables (several times a week) Mix these into the greens: • Butternut squash • Acorn squash • Spaghetti squash • Yellow squash • Zucchini / courgette • Bell peppers (red, yellow, or orange are best; remove seeds) • Green beans • Snap peas / snow peas / green peas • Okra • Cilantro • Parsley (small amounts) Occasional vegetables (about 1–2 times a week) Nutritious, but limited by goitrogens, oxalates, or a weaker calcium-to-phosphorus ratio: • Kale • Cabbage (green preferred) • Broccoli • Carrot (raw, grated) • Sweet potato or yam (raw, grated) • Cucumber (peeled) • Asparagus • Artichoke heart • Parsnip • Kohlrabi • Pumpkin • Beet greens (better than the beet root, still not a staple) • Swiss chard (high oxalates — keep rare) • Romaine, green leaf, or red leaf lettuce (okay as a mixer; iceberg is almost empty calories) Herbs and edible flowers (small amounts) Use as flavor/variety, not the bulk of the bowl: • Basil • Mint • Thyme • Rosemary • Oregano • Fennel • Lemongrass • Lemon balm • Savory • Clover (unsprayed) • Nasturtium (leaves and flowers) • Pansies • Rose petals (unsprayed) • Hibiscus flowers/leaves (edible varieties, unsprayed) • Carnations (petals) • Alfalfa (sprouts more sparingly) Only use yard or garden plants that you are 100% sure were never sprayed. Fruits (treats only — small pieces, a few times a week at most) Fruit should stay a small slice of the plant part of the diet, not a daily food: • Prickly pear / cactus fruit • Figs • Papaya • Mango • Strawberries • Blueberries • Raspberries • Blackberries • Melon (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew — seedless) • Peach or nectarine (pit removed) • Pear • Apple (peeled, seeds/core removed) • Grapes (rare; high sugar) • Banana (rare; high sugar) • Kiwi (peeled) • Tomato (rare; acidic) Usually skip or keep extremely rare These are sometimes listed as “safe” but are poor choices or carry extra risk: • Spinach (very high oxalates) • Beet root • Corn • Iceberg lettuce • Starfruit (high oxalates) Never feed Avocado, onion, garlic, leek, chives, rhubarb, wild mushrooms
What your bearded dragon can eat Insects bugs & gut-loading (P2-2) Daily / staple feeders These are the main protein sources. Rotate among them when you can. • Dubia roaches • Crickets (gut-load well; don’t leave extras loose overnight) • Black soldier fly larvae (Calciworms, Phoenix worms, Nutrigrubs — naturally high in calcium) • Discoid roaches (where legal/available) • Locusts / grasshoppers (common staple in the UK and parts of Europe) Regular rotation feeders Good to mix in often, but they usually aren’t the only bug you use. • Silkworms • Hornworms (high moisture; useful during sheds or if the dragon is a bit dry) • Other captive-bred feeder roaches when available (for example red runners / Turkestan roaches, where legal) Occasional feeders (adults mainly) Fine now and then. Not ideal as the everyday staple, especially for hatchlings and young juveniles. • Superworms (adults only) • Mealworms (adults only; harder shell / higher impaction risk in babies) • Butterworms • Earthworms (only from a clean, captive source — not yard worms) • Captive-bred snails (not wild) Treats only High fat or “candy” bugs. A few at a time, not every feeding. • Waxworms • Extra-large hornworms as a special item ———————— • Pinky mice (rare; some keepers skip these entirely unless a vet suggests them) (do not feed unless directed by a vet) they will become extremely aggressive and will bite your hand as well as other dragons. ———————— Never feed • Wild-caught insects (pesticides, parasites, unknown toxins) • Fireflies / lightning bugs (even one can be fatal) • Ladybugs • Box elder bugs • Lubber grasshoppers • Monarch, queen, and similar toxic caterpillars/butterflies • Wasps, bees, hornets • Scorpions, spiders, centipedes • Venomous or hairy caterpillars • Any insect you can’t identify Prep rules that matter as much as the species: gut-load crickets and roaches for at least 24 hours, keep feeders no larger than the gap between the eyes, and don’t leave live prey in the enclosure overnight. Black soldier fly larvae are the main exception on calcium dusting because they are already calcium-rich Gut loading Gut loading is feeding the insects a nutritious diet for about 24–48 hours before you offer them to your dragon. The idea is that the dragon eats the insect and whatever is in the insect’s gut, so you get more vitamins, calcium, and moisture than you’d get from an empty, starved cricket. What to gut-load with Good options: • Dark leafy greens (collard, mustard, turnip, dandelion) • Squash, carrot, sweet potato • Bell pepper • Commercial gut-load diets made for feeder insects Skip junk: potato, iceberg lettuce, dry cereal, and leftover human food. Those fill the insect up without adding much useful nutrition. How long • Crickets and roaches: at least 24 hours, ideally 24–48 hours • Black soldier fly larvae: usually don’t need a special gut-load the same way; they’re already a better nutritional package • Hornworms and silkworms: they come on their own diet; don’t starve them, but you typically aren’t “gut-loading” them like crickets Give the insects water too — a damp paper towel, cricket gel, or similar. Don’t use a bowl of standing water they can drown in. After gut-loading Dust the feeders with calcium (most feedings) and a reptile multivitamin on the schedule your vet or care guide recommends. Gut-loading and dusting do different jobs: one puts nutrients inside the bug, the other puts them on the bug

Caught a prowler around my mother‘s house. I think it took off into the sticker bushes but then I heard another lady and so it makes me think that there’s a hidden camera on the property somewhere, I heard her talking about where I had ran to cut em off

So I figured it out now that it’s daylight, it was a female, and she doubled back to the middle of my property where there’s trees and bushes. She was trespassing and had absolutely no right to be on my land.

I need to get the woodshed cleaned out and spray with vinegar water > spiders A trick I learned when I worked on a small farm that had horses. It’s a hay trick.

X switched GIF providers after Google shut down Tenor’s third-party API (around June 30, 2026), and the new setup (GIPHY-backed) has a different catalog and search behavior. That’s the main reason the options feel lousy or missing now. For years X powered its built-in GIF search with Tenor. When Google ended third-party API access, X had to migrate. The replacement library doesn’t include the same set of reaction GIFs, classics, or niche clips people were used to, and the ranking/search matching works differently—so favorites vanish and results often feel repetitive, irrelevant, or sparse
