📒 Beat Peter’s FPGA: The BRAM-ring Bounty
On 6 October 2026, Peter Rizun (@PeterRizun) announced a bounty on X with a 0.2 BTC prize pool (around $16,000) for anyone who can beat the FPGA’s efficiency.
The main prize is 0.1 BTC, with smaller prizes for smaller achievements, and the bounty is open until 4 November 2026, 23:59 Pacific Time.
Peter designed a BRAM-ring proof-of-work function on a cheap Efinix Tz170 FPGA and ran it at 37,100 H/s. So far, the best GPU result is 1,493 H/s on a $499 RTX 3070.
Measured in hash rate per dollar of hardware, the FPGA is more than 100x more efficient.
The claim is that no GPU, CPU, NPU or other off-the-shelf hardware can close the gap, and the bounty is for anyone who proves otherwise.

📒 Nexa Monthly Newsletter September 2026: Ahead of the Storm
September was a very active month, with many significant developments across the ecosystem. It started with the release of Nexa Full-Node 2.2.0.0, a major core protocol release that included preparatory work for Tailstorm.
Equally significant was the release of AI skills with the Starter App, which provides pre-wired Nexa infrastructure with wallet integration, ready for building decentralized applications on top of it. Huge appreciation goes to David Thibodeau (@DPTib) for all the hard work and the presentation.
Along with the AI skills, the team also released an updated Build On Nexa (BON) program website that includes AI-assisted development, all the libraries, and other developer tools essential for blockchain development.
We have also been recapping and reintroducing the work being done on hardware acceleration and Blitz. This work involves heavy development and wiring the silicon for digital signature verification. Most of the hard work is already done and tested, and we are moving into the next phases.
Find these and many more developments in the September 2026 monthly newsletter below. 👇
It’s funny how the government can remain so far behind the available technology…
Who would have ever thought that KYC data collection was just creating giant honeypots for hackers?
Oh wait - I wonder why everyone in crypto has wanted to avoid KYC from the beginning 🤔
🚨JUST IN: SEC Commisioner calls to END mass KYC data collection.
Hester Peirce warns existing KYC/AML frameworks create huge databases of sensitive user data, making them prime targets for hacks, phishing and even physical attacks.
She is pushing zero-knowledge proofs as an alternative, allowing users to prove compliance without exposing their personal data.
“Not your keys, not your coins”, right?

The security of a UTXO PoW model, smart contracts, native tokens, unparalleled speed - all on L1!
New tech pushing forward daily
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got”…
If your status quo is 2015 legacy blockchain, there’s a number of projects that will remain frozen in time due to governance issues. For those who favor innovation, there’s nexacoin:native
Replying to @nic_carter
There are people, Jobs, Musk, etc, who tend to see through the fog and make good decisions. In the early days, I thought sociologists should study early adopters as a group to puzzle out this capability.
But interacting with maximalists (really they should be called minimalist) has made it absolutely clear that luck and indoctrination into alt-cultures explains these people's involvement, since they have not made a single sensible decision since. The key "digital gold" argument (crypto is a better gold), requires innovation or the same argument is applicable to move away from BTC to an innovative altcoin.
One thing you missed was that, unbelievably to me, the pernicious maxi culture carried over into BCH! All the same rejections of new features, dismissal of alts, etc was there. The lack of rational analysis -- "Core except big blocks" philosophy dominated during the ABC years, resulting in almost no technical progress, a culture of exclusion, and the coalition that Roger, Jihan, and I built started splintering just months after Bitcoin Unlimited was no longer the primary client.
While BTC can continue relying on its first mover advantage, BCH needed to innovate quickly to counter it. This persistent irrationality was why I founded Nexa.
Want to see where the future of proof of work blockchains is headed? Look no further than @NexaMoney . PoW isn’t dead - it’s the most secure option, and nexacoin:native is using that work in a way that will propel the tech. Nothing goes to waste!
📒 Nexa August Highlights: NexaPoW 2.0 Introduced
This August is exciting and brings us a lot of positive news. The president of Bitcoin Unlimited (@BitcoinUnlimit), Andrew Clifford, has explained the new 2.0 version of the NexaPoW algorithm, a fundamental improvement to the Nexa blockchain.
The new algorithm is an indirectly useful proof-of-work which is changing how we look at proof-of-work itself. For many years, old-fashioned PoW was considered just e-waste, which is not useful, but now it will directly correlate with the network's capabilities.
Nexa Chief Scientist Dr Peter Rizun (@PeterRizun) and Lead Developer Andrew Stone (@GAndrewStone) are working on NexaPoW from two different angles. Peter is implementing the new solution in the hardware, which will use an FPGA for mining and signature verification, removing the major bottleneck in full node operations.
Andrew is leading the efforts from the software side. In addition to hardware acceleration, the team is integrating the Tailstorm protocol into the main Nexa blockchain layer. Nexa is moving towards a directed acyclic graph (DAG) hybrid model combined with a traditional blockchain.
A hybrid model means that the Nexa blockchain will benefit from both model’s strengths. Preserving the traditional blockchain model and introducing what we will call summary-blocks, and combining them with sub-blocks that are created every few seconds, will make blocks faster to mine, ensure a fairer distribution of block rewards, and enable faster transaction verification.
To better understand all of this, B.U. president Andrew Clifford explained Nexa’s approach and the NexaPoW architecture. He discussed the history of how and when proof-of-work was invented, and how Nexa is moving towards indirectly useful PoW and aligning mining with signature verification algorithms so that all network users would benefit from improved mining.
Read more and watch the full video with Andrew Clifford in the Nexa forum below. 👇
This is going to be huge!
nexacoin:native continues on a bullish streak - there’s loads of new tech on the way! When a new mining algorithm, Blitz hardware, and Tailstorm transform the PoW space, Nexa will be undeniable.
And we haven’t even discussed all the ecosystem apps in the pipeline…
If you’re looking for the next “get rich quick” coin, there’s thousands of memes to risk your money on… If you’re looking for true innovation to invest in, the choice is simple: nexacoin:native is breaking through what people previously thought were the limits of PoW blockchains

📒 Why Nexa Builds Hardware
Imagine a microchip that can do the same thing as your software node, but is faster, more reliable, uses less energy, and can be built for a fraction of the cost. This is not a distant dream, but the direction Nexa has been working toward for years.
Nexa Chief Scientist, Dr Peter Rizun, designed Blitz, a hardware which verifies digital signatures and removes the dominant compute bottleneck for scaling cryptocurrencies.
To understand the benefit of hardware acceleration, we first need to go back to when the first Bitcoin block was mined. Since then, the technology has improved more than 1,000,000 times, and the same improvement can be reached in scaling cryptocurrencies.
