Voting rights are the cornerstone of our democracy. We are disappointed in today’s SCOTUS decision upholding ballot restrictions that disproportionately burden Black, Latino and Native American voters. For a healthy democracy to flourish, we must have free and fair elections.

Great news from the Supreme Court – the #ACA is still the law of the land. Now let’s ensure that all people, both statewide and nationally, have access to quality health care. familiesusa.org/press-releas…

Yeah ... gun violence is also a public health problem. And thanks to @Health_Affairs and @vikbakhru we now can see the extent to which it disproportionately affects children of color. Because of course it does.
New study: Overall, 21% of kids lived or attended school within 500m of a #gunviolence incident in the previous year. Not good. What's worse? The disparities. Such exposure affects: 4% of white children 29% of Hispanic children 36% of Black children healthaffairs.org/doi/full/1…

Thank you! I would be nowhere without the women whose footsteps I dance in. While reciting my poem, I wore a ring with a caged bird—a gift from @Oprah for the occasion , to symbolize Maya Angelou, a previous inaugural poet. Here’s to the women who have climbed my hills before.
I have never been prouder to see another young woman rise! Brava Brava, @TheAmandaGorman! Maya Angelou is cheering—and so am I.

Incarcerated people at CA's largest prison are entering their 3rd week of a hunger strike to draw attention to the institution's failure to protect the incarcerated from #COVID19. There is no excuse for inhumane and unsafe conditions in our prisons. perilouschronicle.com/2020/1…
