Director General of Somalia’s DPA, Mohamed Nur Olow, has concluded a five-day training on implementing the 2023 Data Protection Law. The program brought together public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen data privacy awareness and compliance.

The Deputy Director General of the DPA, Da’ud Abdi Hussein, officially launched a five-day training on the implementation of the Somalia Data Protection Act 2023 today. The first day focused on the fundamentals of data privacy and the core principles of personal data protection.

The Somali Data Protection Authority hereby informs all Data Controllers and Data Processors operating in the Federal Republic of Somalia that the registration of institutions and companies handling personal data has officially commenced.

NCA Director General Mustafa Yasin Sheikh praised the DPA for launching data handlers’ registration, calling it vital for data security and privacy, and urged all institutions to register.
