We advise Zimbabweans that MDC challenge to CAB 3 will be heard by the full bench of the Constitutional Court on 23 September at 9:30 am. We argue that by confining the electionof President to Parliament, the right of general public to vote has been removed.
Today we have filed our heads of arguments in the Constitutional Court. We are challenging the constitutional validity of CAA 3. Because it affects the right to vote which is in the Bill of Rights the bill must have been subjected to referrendum first.

After confirming with @DMwonzora the earlier post which contained an application challenging the signing of CAB3 into law without ED referring the bill to a referendum, I can authoritatively say that the document doing the rounds contains an error which was rectified before the actual filing was done. The document makes reference to a response being launched in the High Court within 10 days and yet it was supposed to say the Constitutional Court. The behaviour by the Police to seal off MRT House so as to prevent the MDC E-Rally on the 4th of July is totally dispcable. It marks a new low in the closure of democratic space by the current government . It betrays a government so frightened and timid.

ZRP BARRICADES MDC HEADQUARTERS AHEAD OF NATIONAL E-RALLY (Harare)

Zimbabwe Republic Police have barricaded the MDC National Headquarters, the venue for today’s lawful e-rally beginning at 12:00 PM. Officers deployed trucks and dogs around 8:00 AM, denying entry to party members, staff, and citizens. Four senior officials were arrested, including Hon Benevolence Taisekwa and Mr Chengetai Guta, with others also named.
MDC condemns the move as a violation of constitutional rights to assembly, expression, and peaceful political participation. Despite the barricade, the e-rally will proceed online as scheduled, and the MDC’s legal team will pursue urgent action.
