I met in Kyiv with a team from the American defense company Lockheed Martin, which helps us save lives. Its Patriot systems and F-16 aircraft play an important role in defending against Russian ballistic missiles and jet-powered “shaheds.” And things are not easy with either right now. We discussed how we can expand and increase supplies. The company is currently ramping up production of ballistic missile interceptors. We count on the opportunity to purchase some of them to protect more lives. We are also trying to do everything possible to ensure that F-16 maintenance and repairs are carried out in Ukraine. Thank you for the meeting. It is important that Lockheed Martin has a presence in Ukraine. We are doing everything on our part to expand our partnership.

Por aquí escucho entre comentarios a mi observación sobre Brasil que "los Bolsonaro son golpistas antidemocráticos". Mi respuesta es la siguiente: que sensible se volvió de repente la izquierda brasileña y latinoamericana sobre el tema del golpismo. No les molestaron ni molestan golpes y elecciones fraudulentas en Nicaragua, Venezuela, y muchos otros países gobernados en su momento por izquierda radical, pero la idea del nuevo golpe en Brasil molesta mucho. Algo no cuadra en la izquierda con la coherencia. Por lo pronto, el autor del golpe en Brasil está condenado, mientras que la mayoría de los autores de los golpes y fraudes hechos por izquierda radical siguen libres, así que eso me inspira confianza en la democracia, instituciones y ciudadanos de Brasil que parecen saber lo que quieren y como defenderlo

Creo que la victoria de Bolsonaro en la segunda ronda de elecciones presidenciales no le hará mal a Brasil en las circunstancias actuales, porque obligará a otros partidos dominados por liderazgos viejos y discursos anticuados a rehacerse/reinventarse. Por otra parte, se calmarán muchas tensiones en Latinoamérica y Brasil tendrá una mejor cooperación con Estados Unidos, evitando así choques innecesarios en un mundo complicado. Si gana Bolsonaro, tendrá 4 años para demostrar su liderazgo y si no lo logra, llegará otra fuerza - esperemos renovada - para gobernar. Por otra parte, es una lección fuerte para élites políticas brasileñas (y latinoamericanas) que deberían darse cuenta de que las viejas recetas de desarrollismo, pobreza y victimismo ya no funcionan para mucha gente en este país y en esta región. Si gana Bolsonaro, México se quedará solo en la región, sin duda, pero ya hace tiempo debieron cambiar la estrategia en Latinoamerica. El reciente cambio en relaciones de México con Perú de Keiko (de derecha) es un buen comienzo que ojalá se expanda más allá de este país

A trilateral meeting between the leaders of Ukraine, the US, and Russia could help end the war sooner. A trilateral meeting between the leaders of Russia, China, and the US would do only the opposite: encourage Putin to continue this war.
Inviting Putin to such a meeting would feed his appetite for self-aggrandizement and give him a stature he does not deserve. He is not a global leader; he is a war criminal. And Russia is not a global power; it is a global problem.
The Russian economy is at least 13 times smaller than America’s and 8 times smaller than China’s, and it continues to shrink rapidly, along with Russians’ living standards. Russia has lost 1.6 million soldiers killed and wounded in a failed war it cannot win and refuses to end. Under heavy sanctions, its technology, industry, and business continue to stagnate.
By any pragmatic or moral measure, Putin has no place at the table with presidents Trump and Xi.
The only thing that could earn him that seat is a serious step toward peace, such as accepting a ceasefire proposal before any such meeting. Instead, we are seeing the opposite: intensified terror against civilians. As long as he continues this terror, there should be no place for him at any table.
