Wow…I definitely did not expect my post from last night to be seen by millions of people, let alone get picked up by so many publications. The amount of support has been overwhelming 🙏. I’ve heard from a ton of people, Jewish and non-Jewish, who understood exactly why my family and I were so bothered. And, unsurprisingly, the post also brought plenty of antisemites out of their holes. I’m not going to spend my time arguing with them individually, but I do want to address one thing I keep seeing…that “Antizionism isn’t antisemitism.” Criticizing Israel, Netanyahu, the war, or Israeli policy is not antisemitic. But Zionism is, at its core, the belief that the Jewish people have a right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland. The Jewish connection to that land isn’t something invented in 1948. It runs through the Torah, our prayers, our history and thousands of years of Jewish identity. So when “antizionism” means Israel shouldn’t exist at all, or that Jews uniquely don’t deserve that right, I don’t buy the argument that it has nothing to do with antisemitism. And that brings me back to Friday night. Macklemore didn’t just say “Free Palestine.” He used an Ed Sheeran concert to accuse Israel of genocide (an absurd accusation that turns the word ‘genocide’ into a political slogan), talk about Gaza and the West Bank, perform “Hind’s Hall,” and put anti-Israel political messaging across the screens at MetLife. My daughters came to see a concert. That’s what they got instead. Friday night, Macklemore made that choice. Saturday night, knowing exactly what had happened, @edsheeran gave him the stage to do it again. That was my point yesterday. It’s still my point today.

This may be the least surprising headline I’ve read all year. Anyone who has followed the @nytimes coverage of @Israel has seen why accusations of bias keep surfacing. This is the same paper that published Nicholas Kristof’s column amplifying the extraordinary allegation that Israeli guards used dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners...a claim so absurd that even canine experts said it was basically impossible and that the Times’ own executive editor later acknowledged his newsroom “wouldn’t have done” as a news story. At some point, readers are entitled to ask whether this is journalism or advocacy masquerading as journalism

Give me a break! You weren’t silenced....you hijacked someone else’s tour and audience for your political rally, then screamed censorship when venue owners decided they didn’t want to provide you with their stages. And now the hypocrisy is almost too perfect. In the same post complaining that other people can decide what happens on their stages, you announce your own tour where YOU decide exactly what happens on yours. You want complete freedom over your microphone, but apparently venue owners aren’t entitled to the same freedom over their venues. Book your own stages. Sell your own tickets. Say whatever you want. Congratulations...you finally figured out how free speech works, schmuck.
