Thanks @AngelaHanks for putting this plainly. Selling off parts of Ed to Labor isn’t about student success. This move is bad for students and families.
I ran the DOL office that many of these ED programs are going to during the last administration. It's hard to describe how nonsensical what Trump is doing but I'll give it a stab

States decide almost every substantive education issue that matters. The one exception involves anti-discrimination. Federal gov has led on that since 1964. In closing multiple civil rights offices, Trump just largely returned that issue to states. npr.org/2025/03/11/nx-s1-532…

Thanks @Wil_EdTrust for leading a conversation around how we can still ensure all students have a place in higher ed.
“Without #AffirmativeAction, the future looks bleak,” but @Wil_EdTrust says, "With strategic advocacy, we could spur the evolution of #P16 policies & practices, removing barriers that have traditionally impacted students of color.” edtru.st/4cIroLP #EduReimagined

So many students are being impacted by the FAFSA disruption. Add another group who are missing out on the recovery and access to higher ed. – at Cathedral City, CA
Thank you for writing this! Homeless and foster youth FAFSA applicants were down 13% between 2019-2022, not yet recovered from the pandemic disruption. These youth need specific outreach and assistance from college access programs, high schools + institutions of higher ed

These are the realities that those who pretend to embrace “colorblindness” are willfully ignoring and seeking to cement.
