Some mistakes in the book. Whitey Basson did not work for Anton Rupert at PEP Stores (page 7). He joined Renier van Rooyen, the founder of PEP. Whitey Basson is from Porterville, not Wellington (page 44).
Looking forward to reading this and then sharing some thoughts. After all, I do know a bit about this company... :)

Also, page 44, in what is described as the "most important moment in Afrikaans retail history: Christo Wiese buying Shoprite, then an eight-store Cape grocer, in 1979. Although still a director, Wiese only "rejoined" the company a year later.

It was Whitey, together with Van Rooyen, who bought Shoprite.

I wrote a letter to @Die_Burger about a new show on @kykNETtv called Boekmerk. For my English friends, I'm basically saying that after watching the first episode, it's a great show, and I hope more people watch it and become readers because of it. netwerk24.com/stemme/gesels-…

Is it time for the "old guard" retailers to step aside and make way for a new generation? Someone that can take on a innovative team like at Shoprite Checkers and ShopriteX?
I have some time with Sean Summers later that I'm looking forward to. Anything specific you want me to ask him?

The numbers alone place him among the game's immortals. An immovable, relentlessly consistent colossus for nearly two decades, combining the output of a world-class top-order batter with that of a frontline quick bowler. A modern titan, Jacques Kallis turns 51 🎈

Your journey to success isn’t linear. It’s layered. And it’s personal. In this TVC, we explore what happens when advice meets your real-life context—not a script. Because success isn’t about big breaks. It’s about small decisions, stitched together with clarity, support and belief. 📊 And here’s a stat worth pausing on: 48% of South Africans who work with a financial adviser feel confident about their financial future. Only 33% of those without one feel the same. This film is our love letter to the journey—and the advice that shapes it 📷 Watch. Reflect. And drop a comment to tell us: where did you catch the TVC live? Source: Momentum Group BMR Household Financial Survey 2024 #AdviceforSuccess
