Trump is tough to deal with. But Mark Carney should have known that when he made a promise in the election to get a good deal with the U.S.
He made the promise. He broke that promise.
U.S. tariffs have more than doubled and broadened on Canadian business since Carney took office promising he could “handle Trump." Everything is worse. Canadians can’t eat speeches or pay rent with his political theatrics.
It is time for results.

When China figures out how to manufacture a product, their ability to scale is often greater than the rest of the world combined. We saw this with lithium batteries and solar, for example.
SpaceX is a rare counter-example, where its mass to orbit is roughly an order of magnitude greater than the rest of the world, BUT China now does a majority of non-SpaceX mass to orbit. SpaceX is an anomaly in the matrix.
Maybe RAM will be different, but RAM was a low margin commodity only ~3 years ago. LP5 and LP6 are designed to a common standard that China seems to be solving fast.
Newer HBM architectures and things like an SRAM layer below logic and 3D stacking RAM on top of logic while finding a way to keep the logic cooled will be harder to solve.

The teaching question raised in @nytimes article is real. We are not passively waiting for this debate to be settled. OpenEvidence is partnering with people who train residents.
My thoughts echo these in so many ways. For the longest time, MD identity has been tied to being walking reference manuals, but with evidence at your fingertips, that is less and less necessary. However, background understanding of phys/pathophysm and ability to reason over information, remains more important than every. In my view, access to information is never a bad thing; it just is about how it is used. I see trainees’ learning being accelerated by rapid access to knowledge, as long as that knowledge is being actively used with the intent of self-improvement and the benefit of future patients in mind, not just to accomplish daily tasks.
