The difference should only be in the room, not in the quality of care.”
Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata has announced plans to build 40 to 50 not-for-profit general hospitals across India, run on a cross-subsidy model. Paying patients help finance treatment for economically weaker sections, with uniform clinical standards for everyone.

India’s healthcare ecosystem is more digital, connected and data-intensive than ever. As health data moves across hospitals, HIS/EMR platforms, cloud infrastructure, labs, insurers and AI-enabled systems, one question matters: is the ecosystem truly prepared to govern and protect it?
The findings show a clear gap between regulatory awareness and operational readiness:
▪️ Only 4% are fully prepared for DPDP compliance
▪️ 58% say their HIS/EMR environments need significant upgrades or major redesign
▪️ Only 8% have fully mapped personal data across systems and data flows
▪️ No respondent is fully confident in their vendors’ DPDP readiness
▪️ 38% cite skills shortages and the lack of healthcare-specific frameworks as major barriers
▪️ 58% want healthcare-specific implementation guidance
DPDP compliance in healthcare can’t be treated as a legal or technology exercise alone. It needs visibility into how data moves, clear accountability, stronger governance, modernised systems, third-party oversight, cybersecurity preparedness and sustained leadership ownership.
As India builds one of the world’s most ambitious digital health ecosystems, using health data responsibly will matter as much as using it intelligently.

India’s precision medicine market was estimated at $2.4 billion in 2024. 🧬
It is projected to grow at 11.8% annually, reaching $6.5 to 7.32 billion by 2033-34. Behind the growth sits the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝟮𝟬+ 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 10,000+ genomes sequenced and 20,000+ participants, with 83 populations reported on the current platform.
