A new auxiliary boiler has traveled from SC overnight to arrive early at Marshall Steam Station in Catawba Co. today. This smaller boiler provides backup steam for the main generating unit & is one more way @DukeEnergy continues to make upgrades for increasingly reliable service.
Another day, another visit to an awesome @DukeEnergy site.
Our Knightdale Battery, east of Raleigh, is our largest battery on the entire system. It can provide 100 MW of capacity for up to two hours.

Duke Energy is urging customers in the Carolinas to reduce energy use during periods of peak demand on Monday, Feb. 2, from 4-10 a.m., to help lessen the energy demand on the power grid and reduce the potential of isolated power outages. spr.ly/6015h1olZ.
Please everyone, this is what could lead to outages during this storm.
If possible, please stay off the roads so we don’t make the situation worse by causing power outages for our neighbors.
A car apparently crashed into a pole in Charlotte near Uptown amid a snowstorm on Saturday morning.

Our generation teams across @DukeEnergy do amazing work year round to ready our plants to support reliable energy to our customers.
Our power generation employees work year‑round to prepare our sites for inclement weather. When extreme conditions hit, they take additional precautions, like these temporary enclosures at our Edwardsport plant that protect key equipment, ensuring we can reliably serve our customers during critical moments of need. Their hard work puts us in the strongest position to support our customers safely and reliably. #WinterStormFern #Indiana
Our @DukeEnergy crews are
seeing challenging conditions across the Carolinas.
The roads are slick and dangerous. Our operations team is seeing a number of cars crashing into our power poles which is causing outages. Please, if you can, try and stay off the roads.

The grid remains stable and MISO has ended its EEA2. Extreme weather will continue over the next few days, and MISO and our members continue to monitor conditions very closely.
MISO is currently in a Maximum Generation Warning, which is a notification to prepare for a 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 emergency situation. No public action is needed. For additional information and updates visit our website: ow.ly/2veC50Y2Ulj.

Due to significant winter weather, MISO has issued an Energy Emergency Alert 2 (EEA2) for our North and Central regions. EEA2 is triggered when MISO is facing an energy shortage and needs to increase generation available to meet demand. At this time, MISO does not have a need for public conservation.
The extreme cold is causing power usage to increase, and we are also seeing unplanned generator outages. By declaring EEA2, MISO operators can access emergency generation not available under normal conditions. Our operators may also purchase emergency generation from neighboring grids if available.
The EEA 2 declaration is scheduled to last until 11 a.m. E.S.T. Please continue to follow our website for additional information: misoenergy.org/.
Hundreds of additional trucks arrived at @Carowinds overnight and this morning ahead of #WinterStormFern

For 120 years @DukeEnergy has relied on hydro power as part of our generation mix to serve customers.
Today, nothing has changed. Within minutes, we can get power from those units onto the grid to support customers.
A diverse energy mix is a strong and reliable energy mix.

“We’re at a critical juncture in preparing for South Carolina’s reliable energy future,” Duke’s regulatory chief, Heather Shirley Smith, wrote in an application making the company’s case to state utility regulators.
“Swiftly expanding our generation capacity is essential to keep pace with the state’s booming development and economic success."

Innovation again!
@DukeEnergy unveiled the DeBary Hydrogen project in DeBary, FL, the nation’s first demonstration project with an end‑to‑end system that can produce, store, and combust up to 100% green hydrogen.
It means greater reliability and potential customer savings.
Temperatures are a little warmer this week across our service areas, but our plant operators/technicians are hard at work ensuring safe and reliable power over the holidays.
I got to spend a little time at our @DukeEnergy Marshall Plant today where 2 units were on and humming!
