Ella hasn’t done a track for a long time but for her it’s an exercise that she loves. Ive laid some titbits on it just to stop her charging around after her operation a few weeks ago. You never lose it.
It still after all these years fills me with pride watching our dog teams practicing their environmental heel work. Here they are at Sidmouth ignoring all distractions including other dogs.
Here are the Initial course practising their control work. Left to right TPD Kensa with Leianne, TPD Frank with Ben, TPD Inca with Instructor Lee and TPD Milo with Porche.
Out with the Initial course yesterday week 6 of their 13 week course. Here is TPD Inca who is the spare dog on the course because we haven’t got a handler for her. Here she is doing a hard surface track with Instructor Lee. She is a cracking dog.
Great to see Rita back doing what she loves best after her previous cruciate injury. Well done Mark and PD Rita
PD Rita from Cornwall recently attended an overnight break to the Co-Op store in Loswithiel. PD Rita tracked through the town, locating the suspect who was subsequently detained and arrested! Great work team Rita 💪🏼🔥🐾 @DC_Police
Ella was signed off yesterday by St Boniface having made a remarkable recovery thanks to Ben and the team. I must admit on the Tuesday I didn’t think she would make it and I thought we never again walk together around Killerton or watch her chasing the waves.❤️🥰
Hannah. That’s a fair question & if all the Police forces came under one budget we probably should. But we don’t and maintaining a puppy program costs a lot of money and hard work from our puppy walkers. Any money obtained goes into supporting our puppy program. 👍

Hi dc police dogs why do you sell them to police force and why don’t they have them for free as at some point the police have paid enough for the dogs in total? X
Emma. I still havnt been able to get him to bark on his person searching & stand off’s and his bite work is not committed enough which is probably because of the dental work he had as a young dog. So lots of remedial work at the moment. But we will get there.
It is very rare that we don’t have any handlers needing a dog. I’ve been acquiring or breeding our pups for over 30 years and I think this is the first time this has happened.

That is very sad. Are the number of dogs in the force declining or is it just at the moment none are needed?
TPD ‘s Xanto, Reggie and Vecna all now have a good understanding of the stand off exercise where the fleeing criminal stops running and surrenders.
Here are the boys doing their first person search in the woods without a sighting of the helper. First was TPD Xanto, then TPD Reggie and then TPD Vecna.
TPD’s Xanto, Reggie and Vecna are 3 exceptional dogs who I have no doubt will become excellent Police dogs. They are all at a very high standard & still have 3 months of training to go
On Tuesday Another Excellent training session with TPD’s Ronnie, Reggie, Vecna and Xanto. The terrible news is we do not have a single dog handler needing a dog on the January Initial course. In 35 yrs we’ve never had this This means we may have to sell the dogs to other forces.
And the results just keep on coming. Great work team.
🔥A good couple of shifts for PD Saka….firstly finding a crucial piece of evidence for a serious investigation, before then tracking a fair distance from a single vehicle RTC where the occupants had fled on foot, finding one hiding in complete darkness in a garden!🔥 @DC_Police
