That it did, and it was a bad strategic play by the #IHSA.
You pick and choose your battles at times, and sometimes we need to take a loss to just let things die and move on.
The IHSA thought from the start this was a slam dunk case, and what it did now is open a massive can of worms that could cause massive issues down the road and also causes additional work to figure out how to readjust its overreaching bylaws at times.
One lawyer told me today that while the IHSA continues to have the same legal shop representing it as it has for years…it might be time, however, to speak with different representation and realize the courts are not siding with organizations like the IHSA or NCAA any longer.

This really bugged me. I reached out to Brakan and he is immovable.
He truly believes his role as a club wrestling coach is to tell athletes they should do an extra year of school and be held back. He doesn't think it's the parents place to initiate this conversation and make the decision.
He believes it is his job to start that conversation and tell kids (in front of every other teammate) that they should hold back.
He also plants the seed of doubt in the kids minds who didn't hold back that they will be less successful. In front of everyone.
I have no issue with hold backs btw.

This isn’t an all or none decision. Holding back is appropriate and beneficial for a very small minority of students and athletes. And it’s 100% a decision for the parents and child. Not a club coach.
