"Having returned there a second time from the Greater Armenia, Noah expelled his son Camese, who with his wicked life was corrupting the good customs of the people of Italy, and he ruled it again for 82 years until the end of his life. After the death of Noah, Cronus Razenus, his son born after the Flood, succeeded him in the Kingdom of Italy and the Province of Otranto, ruling it for 54 years. Cronus was succeeded by Arunno, or Aruntes, son of Cronus, who in the 17th year of his rule, and in the year 2077 of the World, gave the eastern part of Italy along with the Province of Otranto to Auson the Armenian, son of Aram, who had come from the Greater Armenia with his people to Arunno, his cousin, in Italy, and it was possessed by the Ausonians for about 124 years." - Descrizione, Origini e Successi della Provincia d'Otranto del Filosofo e Medico Girolamo Marciano Di Leverano, Napoli, 1855.

There is a certain irony associated with one of the apocryphal stories of Judas, relating that he, through legalistic means, tried reaching Heaven only for his scheme to backfire against him.

Commentary on Psalm 120:5 by Martin Luther: «For the Psalm (120, b.) states that he dwells with those who inhabit Kedar and Mesech. Regarding Kedar, it is certain that it refers to Arabia Petraea, which later included the Moabites, Edomites, and Ammonites. The northern side of these peoples is Mesech. I would suggest, based on the name, that it refers to the Muscovites, and it is possible that they migrated from Armenia to the areas they now occupy, just as peoples often migrated to other places, taking over the lands after expelling the inhabitants.»

«Apart from traditions associating it [Ararat] with Noah, innumerable legends cluster round the mountain, so great is the atmosphere of mystery which seems to have surrounded it from the very earliest of times. Among the most interesting of these is one which connects Ararat with the so-called Chaldean worship of the stars, affirming that long, long ago there stood upon the mountain a great pillar, carved with a star; and that before the birth of Christ, twelve wise men were stationed by this pillar to watch for the appearance of the Star in the East, which three of them followed, when it appeared, to Bethlehem.» - The Great Asiatic Mysteries, by Charles Low, 1937.

«Amongst the grass grow the Stars of Bethlehem, to remind us, as tradition has it, that hard by on Ararat — beyond question the great centre of Chaldean Star-worship — the wise men were appointed to watch for the appearance of a sign in the heavens, and that thence they started in quest of the place "where the young child lay."» - Essays in the Study of Folk-songs, By Evelyn Lilian Hazeldine Carrington Martinengo-Cesaresco, London, 1886.

«The most ancient traditional interpretations of the sacred histories of the Hebrews and Persians have continually reference to Armenia and Ararat. From Ararat came Bileam [Balaam], who foretold the appearance of the star. According to an Oriental tradition it was on this or one of the adjacent mountains, possibly the Little Ararat, that the pillar stood bearing the figure of the star, on which the Chaldeans had stationed twelve of their wise men to watch its appearance in the heavens, three of whom, on seeing it rise, followed it, until they reached the birthplace of the Child in Judea. Ararat was the central point of the Chaldean worship of the stars. The Medes and Persians also regarded Armenia as the great metropolis of nations, the original seat of the whole human race; and the foundation of the House of Madai (the Medes) was laid upon this central mountain, Riphates or Ararat; but after the expulsion from Eden, when Ahriman the serpent had inflicted upon Eden ten months of cold (after which Ararat was first enveloped in snow), then the House of Madai was compelled to migrate from its original seat, and to seek the warmer light-land of the South.» - Transcaucasia, by August von Baron Haxthausen, London, 1854.

«Old engravings of Ararat depict the conventional nursery-shaped boat as resting on the mountain, and although chronicles declare the ship can be seen, no chronicler is bold enough to say that he himself has seen it. And who shall tell how many myths hover about Ararat! Is there not the story of the pillar with a star upon it that moved on the birth of Christ and directed the wise men to Bethlehem! Are there not indeed a hundred stories that religious fancy has crowded around the sacred spot! We can reject them all and yet Ararat loses none of its imposing historical magnificence. Leaving myth, legend, and story alone, Ararat, by its geographical position, commands attention. Ritter, von Raumer, Bryce, have all demonstrated there is reason for the Armenian idea it marks the centre of the world. If you draw a line from the Cape of Good Hope to the Behring Straits, it is in the middle. It is in the line of great deserts and inland seas stretching from Gibraltar to Lake Baikal. It is nearly equidistant from the Black Sea, the Casplai, and the great Mesopotamian plain which at one time was the bed of an ocean.» - Beneath the shadow of Ararat, by John Foster Fraser; The Churchman Vol. 76, 1897.

«An American traveller once asked J. J. J. Tissot, the great Biblical painter, what things were most worth seeing in Bible lands. Tissot's reply was: "Two things, if you have time to wait for them — a rainbow over Mount Ararat, and a white Christmas in Bethlehem. The rare occurrence of a rainbow arched over the twin peaks of Ararat has been viewed by few travellers from the west. Bethlehem is snow-clad at Christmas time only about once in twenty years.» - Christmas Day In Bethlehem, by Dexter Morris; The Michigan Christian Advocate, December 17, 1924.

«And finally, some authors, diligent in discovering antiquities, say that the attire worn today and the Basque language are the same as those brought to Spain by Patriarch Tubal and his Armenian companions nearly four thousand years ago. At the very least, I can assure you, particularly regarding women's attire, that it is one of the most unique costumes, denoting more antiquity than any other in Spain and France, having always been preserved in its ancient, original form.» - Historia Apologética y Descripción del Reyno de Navarra, y de su mucha Antigvedad, Nobleza, por Garcia de Góngora y Torreblanca, 1628.
«He [Tubal] gave them good precepts and laws to live by, composed in good verse so they could easily learn and remember them. He also taught them the order they should follow in the disposition and computation of time, dividing the year into three hundred sixty-five days and a bit more, distributed in twelve months according to the movement of the Sun, as was used by the Chaldeans, and the Armenians from whom Tubal himself descended. The truth is that this doctrine and order were later lost and forgotten among the Spaniards until much later, when they returned to them through the influence of the Romans, who renewed in Spain much of that doctrine, which endures to this day. In this way, ancient historians note that the Spaniards were among the first men to know sciences, have laws, and possess a way of living well and politically [minded]. These people were governed by Tubal, their captain and the first King of Spain, who instructed them in cultivating the land and raising their livestock.» - Primera y Segunda parte de las Grandezas y Cosas notables de Espana. "In Hebrew, as in Babylonian and Assyrian mythology, the dwelling of God was in the great, mysterious mountain masses to the north, in Armenia, where the Ark rested; whence the forefathers came. There was the garden of delight (Eden), the garden of God, and there beneath those mountains the vast deep from which poured out the great rivers to water the earth." - The Psalms as Liturgies: Being the Paddock Lectures for 1920, John Punnett Peters PhD (Rector Emeritus of St. Michael's Church NYC), New York, 1922.
