Last tweet before I’m off the platform again for good. My virtual door is always open to anyone working in comics currently, or even wanting to get into it. Predatory industry relies on us not sharing information with each other. Hmu

Palestinian freedom is more than a regional struggle―it's a global fight against authoritarianism, colonialism, and fascism. Join the movement! Run down walls & provide mutual aid to Palestinians and #PoliticalPrisoners. Register at phillyabc.org/rdtw Art by @DAYGLOAYHOLE
Drawing of the Gaza prison wall at night with stars shining above, and several bottles and pieces of broken wall on the ground in front. A large hole in the middle of the wall makes the shape of a person running, and the barbed wire at top is mangled to spell the words "Running Down The Walls." Remaining parts of the wall are covered in anarchist, anti-authoritarian, pro-resistance, and pro-Palestine graffiti which includes symbols of a machete, clenched fist, the "N" from the international squatters symbol, and the anarchist circle-A. Graffiti text reads "free Palestine," "free the land," "from the river to the sea," "Fanon," "FTP," and "ACAB." Drawing is by Ben Passmore.

THE ART AUCTION IS OPEN! Binch Press & @QueerWork are raising funds for @MedicalAidPal. 90+ artists - including indie comics greats Eleanor Davis @squinkyelo, Ben Passmore @DAYGLOAYHOLE, Tommi Parish, and Emily Carroll - donated work in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
A 10/27/23 screenshot of the PRINTS FOR PALESTINE website, featuring a row of four works of art up for auction, ranging from riso prints (A. Liang Chan) and screen prints (Aim Ren Beland, Alexa Gross) to earrings (Alexa Gross). Tiny Palestinian flags mark the border of the webpage.

Replying to @beehivebks @michael_deforge @DAYGLOAYHOLE @Kickstarter
The wonderful cartoonist Ben Passmore (YOUR BLACK FRIEND, SPORTS IS HELL) titled this glorious piece “ACRAB,” proving yet again that anarchists love dad jokes.

I’m off twitter, coming back briefly for #comicsbrokeme to say despite having the perfect mix of opportunities to succeed and be successful in comics, numerous awards, ect., and a love of drawing, every book feels like it could be my last.

I’m not rly struggling in this work, I am very comfortable where I’m at, and still I’m thinking about other industry’s to move into because comics isn’t a stable place to work. That fact that even someone like me can’t do this forever feels like sign this shit ain’t right.

Anyway I hope this don’t hit corny, not trying to pretend my shit is bad. Sending my love to Ian’s people. I hope we can get together as artists and make something happen that’s gonna actually be transgressive.

With the Nib closing, here's a few things (among many) that made me love working for it: contracts that kept all IP in the artists' hands with zero rent seeking, a promo operation that knew & valued what it published, and always paying artists a living wage. Thnx @MattBors

Could not be more crushed that the @thenib is closing its doors. They took a risk on me before anyone was really reading me. I doubt I’d be where I’m at if they hadn’t let me go off on subjects no one else would pay me to make.

Not too long ago i was in Ohio doing a talk for the Art of the News show and thinking about how far comics journalism has come. About how much comics journalism has grown in the US because the Nib made a place where a lot of us could do really good work.

Thank you to @thenib and @MattBors especially for carrying the torch for so long. Thanks to all the tireless editors that battled through my typos and my deep resistance to notes on my stories. Thanks for making a place of honor for our art.
