This requirement forces districts to keep less than recommended reserves on hand, become ineligible for a AAA bond rating, and pay more in borrowing costs. That’s not property tax relief.
Property tax relief update:
The Hosue version of the budget provided “direct and much needed relief,” chair @BrianStewartOH said.
The budget requires that if a school district carries over more than 25% of their operating budget, that property tax refunds be issued.
