EARTH2026/shibuya弾cussion “Shibuya Dancussion” is a dance and percussion ensemble with a history spanning over 20 years. Since its inception, the music has been composed by Hiroshi Chu Okubo. While various choreographers have contributed over the years, the current choreographer, IORI , has truly established and defined the signature Dancussion style. The performers consist of talented dancers and musicians from the Tokyo School of Music SHIBUYA and DA TOKYO. Their youthful, fresh energy is genuinely spectacular. Their piece is titled "EARTH." Through nothing but percussion and dance, it powerfully expresses elements of nature such as the earth, sky, water, and fire. The main performance also beautifully weaves in themes of traditional festivals and romance. For this particular production, the percussion section features exclusively the djembe and drums. The Meaning Behind the Team Name: "Shibuya Dancussion" Shibuya:Represents the core area of their activities. Dancussion: A blend of "Dance"and "Percussion." The word "Dance" is also sometimes represented by the Kanji character “「弾」 (Dan)”, which means "to bounce" or "to burst with energy." This carries a dual meaning: bodies bouncing to the dance,and rhythms bouncing from the drums.
