Elon Musk did not block BYD.
He sells cars in China.
He does not write US law.
Chinese EVs face a 100% tariff, and a Commerce rule in force since 2025 bars any Chinese-controlled automaker from selling connected cars in the US, even if built in Ohio. Bipartisan.
BYD already builds buses in California.
Its own EVP said today the holdup is geopolitics.
