It might be nearly 10 years (maybe more!) In the making, but that 10 yards of tarmac made my heart skip a beat this morning, before becoming a little bit still.
If you know where it is, you know.

Dutch authorities now recommend a minimum cycle lane width of 230 cm (each direction) to allow for side-by-side riding and comfortable passing.
Studies have shown the wider the lane, the lower the safety risk: each 10% increase reduces collisions by 13%.

And finally @KnowsleyCouncil and @WirralCouncil is a no from them for #CycleToWorkDay £70 million spent somewhere and not 1 of our regions councils has promoted it! Speaks volumes!

Has anyone spotted any of our local councillors out and about or promoting #CycleToWorkDay today? We've got all this best-in-class infrastructure & just launched LCWIP, so there must have been some promotion or some events for today. @harrydoyle96 @liamrobinson24 @LCRMayor

Er, here's me on the new cycle track adjacent to the A27 near Eastbourne today and no motorists on the road! bestbritishbikerides.com/202… (Well, couple in the distance, and more soon arrived! But, still ...)

Hatherley Street and Ducie Street
July 2019 was when I first heard the name West Tree Estates (WTE). Many in the local community were horrified at their planning application for Ducie Street and campaigned against it.

Compared to the plans @WestYorkshireCA and @greatermcr have now published for expanding public transport provision the @LpoolCityRegion plans for a glorified bendy bus looks even more pathetic!

It's been nearly 2 years since @harrydoyle96 and councillor Barrington went to check out Walthamstow. In that time @lpoolcouncil has completed less than 1 mile of bike lanes, not brought in parking restrictions in city centre! @CarlCashman should have a field day! – at Liverpool, England
Great to have a cycle tour of Walthamstow today with @lpoolcouncil Chief Highways Officer & @siobridg looking at active travel infrastructure but also how they have incorporated this with the public realm, supporting local businesses. My first time cycling on the road!! 🚲

I don’t normally get involved in calling out headlines but it’s just getting bonkers.
If this was directed at a gender, race or religion it would be rightly called out as the hate speech it is. Mums, dads, sons and daughters being labelled as killers. It’s just got to stop.

The next three reports are all transport related.
The first is all about improving cycle access in and around Upper Parliament St, Catherine St & Princes Rd – improving traffic flow and having a positive impact on all road users.

Imagine if the whole country had the same transport choice as London. Seems like a pretty good investment to me.

I’m delighted that we’re working with @TidewayLondon to reopen the slip road connection between Cycleways 3 & 6. The new sewer & the Bazelgette Embankment will be completed soon and reopening this link will reduce the congestion in this area.

Very proud to be presenting my 10 Minute Rule Bill on Graduated Driving Licenses to Parliament tomorrow. Inspired by @ian_m_greenwood & his steadfast campaigning following his own tragic loss. Far too many families have lost loved ones on our roads, incl. in #BatleyAndSpen #GDL
Sometimes a brave politician comes along, connects with the enormity of avoidable grief (sadly, largely because of her own life story), listens and then acts. Here is @kimleadbeater doing just that.
4,935 people were killed or seriously injured in crashes involving young drivers and yet @RishiSunak @Mark_J_Harper @GuyOpperman refuse to take action.
The evidence gathered over decades is so clear and yet #GDL is ignored or ridiculed.
But we still have brave politicians willing to make a stand. Thank you @kimleadbeater
Please support her on 7 May in her 10 minute bill.

There’s still time to register for #RoadPeaceChallenge2024
Walk, run, cycle or horse ride to honour the 1,766 people killed on UK roads in 2022. The aim is to collectively travel one mile for each person, counting down to zero.

Latest @LivEchonews column. Cycling failure in Liverpool for a decade. Barely any increase in cycling in that time. We need to acknowledge that, learn lessons and then look to cities that have made transformative change when it comes to active travel and learn how they did it
