Our team recently investigated a potential initial access vector linked to the FortiBleed campaign. To our surprise, over 7,000 FortiGate admin credentials were simple variations of "admin123," and 44% of them belonged to Indian organizations. One of them was the firewall admin password of a major financial institution, an organization widely recognized for its strong security policies. The policy almost certainly said "strong passwords," but the firewall said "Admin@123." September ransomware activity remained highly active, with 850 victims recorded across 91 countries and 80 active threat groups.
