I didn't believe you about the Republican policies pushing mfg overseas (vis-a-vis Democrat policies). But it does appear that most mfg job loss (as % of pop) corresponds directly with Republican presidents. At least after 1960.

The 100 mph limit is standard TOS for Starlink. Did that configuration get pushed to the Starshield environment? By mistake, I mean. 🤔😂 There's some chatter about the restriction being triggered by a throughput usage cap, but it doesn't sound coherent yet.
I have real reservations about this claim. Starshield is bound by mountains of terms of service between the Pentagon on SpaceX. The idea that Musk just pulled and Office Space in Starlink HQ and told the watch worker to put up a speed gate on terminals around Ukraine sounds like a massive problem for the Pentagon as well as Ukraine. So yeah, I have real questions here.

It strikes me that CoreWeave's recovery rate might be quite high, assuming the general AI bubble doesn't pop. 🤔 Which means CDS payout could be quite low depending on the tranch.
CoreWeave’s credit default swaps imply a 62% probability that the company defaults in the next five years. The credit markets were screaming loud and clear: This company might be about to implode.

What makes anyone think this is limited to ICA credentials? These eMudhra folks clearly have no idea what they're doing. Hilariously, OpenSSL would have been a better choice.

LMAO The company's main business is PKI! 😂 It's so much worse than even I had thought. The global IQ shrinkage, that is.

A legitimate use of prediction markets: hedging.
An LA hospitality group runs 25 bars, many of them right by Dodger Stadium. Every extra playoff game means packed bars. An early exit means lost revenue they were counting on. So they hedged it. They put $60,000 on Kalshi on the Dodgers *not* making the World Series. The Dodgers lost the NLCS to the Brewers. The position returned nearly 2x, helping cover the playoff business that *never* came. A Columbia law professor told Fortune it works like “a form of bespoke insurance.” Read the full story here: fortune.com/2026/10/19/predi…

In the 3rd Century BC there was a community of Sidonians living among the Edomites. It's not exactly the community of Tyrians living among the Nabateans that I expect, but not far off.

According to the IMF, China's debt situation is actually worse than that of the US. Because China relies heavily on off-balance sheet spending, especially by local government, IMF tracks the full liability using augmented debt and net borrowing. imf.org/-/media/files/public…

Gundlach and many others have noted that using higher interest rates to slow inflation caused by supply chain issues historically ends in tears as its only real mechanism for reducing inflation is forcing a recession.
So fantastic to have @LynAldenContact on @NTLiveMedia. Does a 25 bps hike even matter? Link to the DO NOT MISS FULL INTERVIEW: youtube.com/live/-me8RQtsDxE…

This hopefully allows farmers and meat producers to at least keep the food production and herd growth going. (Automatic for row-croppers; livestock operations are also eligible but details haven't been rolled out.)
This aid will push US government payments to farmers in 2026 to $55.4 billion, based on USDA's earlier net farm income forecast with $8 billion added to it. The highest previous aid year was $45.6 billion in 2020, driven by trade aid and pandemic payments.

Isn't deception for benefit the definition of fraud? Why is fraud legal for politicians?
BOMBSHELL: Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother urges voters not to vote for her daughter. “My name is Donna Arthur and I’m Amy Acton’s mother. I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America. I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem. She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life. My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that. Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.” That’s one hell of an October surprise.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Acton's mother lost custody of her children after years of documented issues, including time spent living in a tent and a spouse who sexually abused her daughter Amy (Acton). Amy Acton's brother has also confirmed this story. x.com/amyactonoh/sta… wkbn.com/news/local-new… time.com/collections/co… vindyarchives.com/news/2019/aug/… 614now.com/2020/culture/c… actonforgovernor.com/meet-amy/

Muslim Brotherhood supporters are very upset about investigations into other Muslim Brotherhood supporters. 🤔
New report out about how Bari Weiss is demanding that CBS reporters investigate @AbdulElSayed's non-existent ties to Mulsim Brotherhood. Of course, there is no investigation of Mike Rogers ties to the genocidal government of Israel. But it's not just CBS, all of national media has engaged in the most bigoted campaign against a candidate in my lifetime. All Mike Rogers does is talk about how Abdul is Muslim because he can't offer any policies the voters actually want. He offers endless war and subservience to a foreign nation. But it's not just Rogers, almost our entire national media has joined in on the bigotry. They're all attacking El-Sayed. And the only thing they're attacking him on is, "He's Muslim, so we're going to try to connect him to terrorism, because we're all disgusting bigots, not actual reporters."

We are again in pre-GFC territory, specifically the part where we are just finding out who has been swimming in an unclothed state. 😂
The arrangement between Millrose REIT and Lennar feels like it's straight out of the GFC. Let's review some facts: 1. Millrose was spun out of Lennar to act as a land bank. 2. Millrose has zero employees. It's managed by a 3rd party selected by Lennar.... 🧵

DeepSeek models are open weight. They could be run on a US cloud by a trusted CSP with FedRAMP security after the model has been validated to be safe. But having USG agencies buying AI services directly from CCP agencies seems like a bad idea.

Youngish French pensioners bankrupting the country while rioters burn buildings. Nice thumbnail of the situation.
A couple were seen enjoying a drink close to the Arc De Troimphe on Saturday, close to where some of the main rioting took place in central Paris. France was gripped by a second night of looting and violence on Sunday, deepening the crisis Emmanuel Macron is facing during the country’s worst riots in decades. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…
