I feel Security Data Scientists will be seeing this more and more with their production classifiers. It will be interesting to see how the industry as a whole responds.
.@drhyrum concludes, "It's interesting to note in 2019, there were 0 algorithmic attempts—but 2 of 5 top contestants used algorithmic #attacks this year."
Perhaps another reason why we don't TODAY see real attacks making much use of fancy evasion #algorithms.

.@drhyrum explains the competition objectives are simple: start with a #malware sample that an #ML model gets right with high confidence. Make a few structural changes to the binary that don't change the intended malicious behavior. And by doing so—fool an ML model.
