"Make something. Don’t be a film talker. Be a filmmaker." 😄
How do you go from experimenting with AI to actually landing jobs? In Ep. 45 of Brothers' Saga, we sat down with @calebwward to discuss how @CuriousRefuge is raising the floor for AI filmmakers and creatives everywhere.
Watch the full XCast below 👇
The news love pitting Americans against the technology industry. Even @WIRED magazine seems more focused on attacking "tech bros" and their personal lives these days.
"75% of Americans don't want a data center built next to their house."
Well, no kidding! 😆
Ask people, "Do you want a nuclear power plant built in your backyard?" and you'll probably get the same response. That doesn't mean we shouldn't build them, or that they aren't necessary and better than the alternative. North America has a ton of empty land.
Now ask those same people if they enjoy using their smartphones, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Netflix, and all the other apps powered by data centers.
Ask if the would prefer to live without those mostly free and helpful services if we shut down the infrastructure behind them.
Ask whether their access to fresh water has actually been disrupted by the tech industry over the past 25 years.
Social media platforms need to learn from past mistakes and do more to combat disinformation spread by foreign adversaries and bot networks. Watch The Social Dilemma if you need a reminder. 😬
Some of the loudest voices attacking Western technology come from countries racing to build their own AI and data center infrastructure in their country. They want to own Big Tech and Hollywood and everything we hold dear and powers our own jobs and economy.
Social media is not the news. It's algorithms reward outrage and division. Don't fall for it. Do your own research. Protest alfalfa and almond farming if you need to. It's too important to get this wrong.

Let's go!" 🚀

Too many creators get distracted by the "final pixel," but great content relies on strong preparation and writing.
@Ben_Aberg breaks down how Saga asks you to deeply consider character goals and story arcs before you start generating. As one Hollywood producer said, it "asks the questions you need answers for."

If AI were perfect, would you still work with human actors?
Brothers' Saga Podcast E41
Ben Abergel is a Paris-based creative technologist and AI filmmaker, founder of Ciné Nissim, and former Head of AI Technology and Production at USC’s Entertainment Technology Center — the George Lucas–founded think tank.
He led AI on ETC shorts The Bends and Pathways, worked virtual production and LED volumes, and created Experiment 262, Luma Dream Brief finalist Luma Burger, and the Lost Canon / Raindance short Theodore and Wilson.
In this episode, we ask: if AI video became perfect, would filmmakers still need the set?
“Absolutely. AI is a really great tool, but the goal is not to be a full-gen artist. I think you're missing the exchange with people.” — Ben Abergel

Anyone thinking node graphs are the only pro way of doing things in generative AI is feeding you horseshit.
You don’t need to ever even touch a node graph to do insanely high end technical and creatively max controlled work. That’s a mindset I’ve seen scope creep on forever in the community and it’s just highly untrue and it shouldn’t discourage people. Many people tell me they don’t try to go after clients or do certain work cause they don’t wanna learn comfy or screw with nodes and you absolutely do not have to.
I don’t fuck with nodes, and I’ll put my work up against anyone’s comparatively. 🤷♂️
Everyone is different, so don’t let the hype or overwhelming marketing manipulate you to think you needing anything but your brain, an eagerness to experiment and create, and discipline to keep going when it’s hard no matter what. ❤️

You might see some in the media claim AI has hit a wall, stopped advancing, or that "Generative AI doesn't work."
Yet @StanfordHAI published data showing organizational AI adoption is 88%, with 4 in 5 college students using GenAI.
And the model capabilities? They now exceed human baselines on PhD-level math and science questions.
Just imagine what they can do for your AI Vertical series.

You might see headlines in the news claiming, “Generative AI doesn’t work.” But according to @StanfordHAI, more than half the population is already using it for something.
In fact, generative AI provided $172 billion in value to U.S. consumers alone in 2026, tripling since 2025.
It's great for research, writing, video and audio generation, and so much more for filmmakers and creators 🚀
