“Come back to India!” - Then came the salary freeze. On October 9, Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu urged Indian tech professionals in America to return home and help build India's technology future. Just FOUR days later, he announced that Zoho would skip its usual annual salary hikes. His explanation? • Server prices had surged 4×, he said. • AI usage was driving up expenses. • Marketing spending had been cut. • Zoho had not grown its headcount in 18 months. Vembu also said the company would work hard to avoid mass layoffs. But the timing triggered backlash. Critics questioned why professionals should return to India if the job market offered lower salaries and uncertain opportunities. Vembu's response? He doubled down on the need to build India rather than depend on America. So, is this a contradiction or a glimpse of the challenge facing India's tech industry? #Zoho #AI #India

💥 The AI revolution has a bill. And somebody has to pay it. While the world celebrates AI, companies are facing a less glamorous reality: computing power is expensive. Look at the ecosystem: - NVIDIA builds powerful AI accelerators. - Microsoft and Google are investing heavily in AI infrastructure and cloud computing. - Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron are major players in the memory-chip market. AI data centres need specialised chips, high-bandwidth memory, servers, networking, electricity and cooling. Demand for AI infrastructure is putting pressure on parts of the supply chain. Zoho's Sridhar Vembu says server prices have risen FOURFOLD, while growing AI usage has increased the company's expenses. That does NOT prove every tech company is facing the same cost surge. But it raises a bigger question: What happens when AI makes software easier to build, yet more expensive to run? Will companies invest more in AI, cut other costs, or rethink how they hire? The next phase of the tech industry may depend on how they balance all three. #ArtificialIntelligence #NVIDIA #Microsoft #Semiconductors

🇮🇳 India doesn't just need its talent back. It needs to give that talent a reason to stay. Here's the bigger picture. Thousands of Indian professionals have built careers in America's technology industry. But immigration uncertainty is making some reconsider their future. Meanwhile, India's technology sector wants experienced engineers, entrepreneurs and researchers to help build globally competitive products. There's an opportunity here. India can attract talent by building: -> More high-value technology jobs. -> Stronger AI and semiconductor ecosystems. -> Competitive compensation and meaningful career growth. -> Companies that create global products instead of merely supplying talent to them. And there's an important distinction: Zoho's decision to freeze annual pay hikes does not mean India cannot offer good salaries. It shows that even successful companies face difficult business decisions. The real challenge is building an ecosystem where returning professionals can grow, innovate and earn a rewarding living. You cannot build a world-class technology industry on patriotic appeals alone. You build it by creating world-class opportunities. #India #TechTalent #AI #Innovation

But when fuel prices rise, those same governments face pressure to find cheaper supplies even from the countries they are trying to constrain. What matters more in foreign policy: strategic principles or the immediate cost of energy? And can governments realistically prioritise both?
