5) In terms of record overvaluation/unaffordability, you can look at a host of metrics, however my favorite are the inflation-adjust price index and the Mortgage Cost as a % of Income.
Both of these graphs clearly show that buying a house today is historically expensive relative to the cost of other things in the economy (and income).
