Duke Energy’s 2026 Carolinas Resource Plan connects the existing fleet, new nuclear options and fuel-cycle work. Curio is developing commercial pathways toward a closed nuclear fuel cycle because America’s nuclear future requires the whole system.

The future of advanced nuclear depends on more than advanced reactors. It also depends on a strong domestic fuel cycle.
The NRC’s latest report to Congress underscores the importance of developing the fuels needed for the next generation of reactors. At Curio, we believe that conversation should also include the full fuel cycle, including long-term management and recycling.

Building the next generation of nuclear projects will require more than technology.
According to the World Nuclear Association, investment must grow substantially to meet long-term deployment goals. Financing, execution, and strong partnerships will all matter.

America’s nuclear future depends on more than building new reactors.
It also depends on rebuilding the fuel cycle that supports them.
A resilient domestic fuel cycle—including used nuclear fuel recycling, advanced fuel technologies, and secure supply chains—will be essential to supporting America’s next generation of nuclear energy.
Recent DOE actions reflect the growing national focus on this challenge.

Appreciate you raising this — and appreciate the Philippe et al. study. Independent scrutiny of source terms is how this industry earns public trust.
But "similar risks" flattens real differences. The PF-4 scenario runs on pyrophoric Pu *metal* in a *glovebox*. NuCycle never separates pure Pu, doesn't fabricate metal fuel on site, and uses no organic solvents — so no red oil, no solvent fire.
Different chemistry, different chain, different hazard profile. Happy to go deeper anytime.
