My second book talk on Truth Emerging is up: the deeper philosophical dimensions of the book, including what I call “the physics of value,” which sheds new light on the evolution of consciousness and culture. With audience Q&A.

In this piece, @CultureDevelops reads the combined philosophies of Teilhard de Chardin and Whitehead as a diagnostic tool for the noosphere's political present.

Philosophy has been a critical lever for social progress in almost every great cultural flowering in history. I think it can play that role again. From my talk introducing my new book, Truth Emerging: amazon.com/dp/1626986991?tag…

Next week I'll be giving my second talk to our Zoom group on my new book: Truth Emerging: A Developmental Philosophy of Purpose and Progress. I'll considering the key philosophical innovations that empower Developmental Philosophy to serve as a lever for social progress.
The cases of books for Truth Emerging arrived today. I think the printing of the Vermeer painting turned out well.
My new book, Truth Emerging: A Developmental Philosophy of Purpose and Progress, is out now. The book shows how recent developments in science and philosophy are beginning to disclose the deeper meanings behind the evolution of nature and history.

My talk introducing Truth Emerging is up: the first of two on the book, for a general audience, with Q&A at the end. Why the evidence for purpose in the universe is now strong enough to take seriously.
The book is available September 30.

During the July meeting of my monthly Zoom group, I fielded “ask me anything” questions from our group members:
- How can I describe this philosophy to my academically sophisticated friends?
- Is progressive postmodernism a genuine stage, or just late modernism?
- What will it take to make this philosophy accessible to ordinary folks?
- Why isn't this group more diverse?
- How do cultural stages intersect with stages of individual development?
- What's your read on AI?
- How does this perspective honor alternative ways of knowing?

I enjoyed my recent conversation with the Australian globalists, Scott Beckie, Nigel Denning, and Jordan Bakker. We had some productive disagreements. The video is now on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=CEFf3PHT…
The universe reveals the ubiquitous presence of cosmic mind in its *structure* (its mathematical foundations), its *function* (the ongoing emergence of something more), and its *order* (which is— amazingly—intelligible to creatures like us). And of course, there are many other unmistakable signs of cosmic mind.
The meaning of beauty is found in the way it provides a fleeting cessation of the need for further meaning.
For my July 8th Zoom group, I'm skipping the lecture and starting with a question instead: of everything in the developmental perspective, what's the one aspect you find genuinely useful? Join my Zoom group here: developmentalphilosophy.org/…
"Despite the inevitably dialectical course of our development, like a sailboat tacking back and forth against the wind, integrating pride and shame by turns can help us maintain a consistent heading toward a more perfect union."
The antithesis makes way for the synthesis. I've written on why progressive shame and traditional pride aren't irreconcilable—and what an inclusive patriotism might look like on America's 250th. Read my new article: stevemcintoshphilosophy.subs…
