Leading our @CultExp ‘#Walking #Waterloo ’ autumn tour - pausing for a rest at sleepy Smohain - hard to believe this peaceful scene was one of viscous fighting 209 years ago. @societyarmy #history

Part 2: More village life, demonstrating the importance of water (with some wisdom) to people who live on hilltops, a father playing ‘Kang’ with some [short] boys and typical flower pots with a cat sunning itself 🐈

‘Tanks can’t fight in our region’
In #1944 near-obsolete M3 Grant tanks fought up the spurline on the left, all the way across the ridge to the right, defeating the enemy and saving infantry lives. 🇮🇳

In the village of Khonoma investigating the story of the 1879 British punitive expedition to #Nagaland. Great story telling, plus a monument to four of the British dead, including the District Commissioner, at the highest point in the village. @robert_lyman opening many doors! – at Kohima, India
