We've also publicly released our final report to NASA as the last in the series of grants that funded these projects came to a close in March. We were so proud of this mission we figured it was worth sharing with everyone.

My first podcast! Listen in to learn about the Sun & two upcoming solar eclipses — an annular eclipse on October 14, 2023 & a continent-crossing total eclipse on April 8, 2024 — plus 2 amazing experiments including @citizenCATE2024 & the @NASA WB-57 jets. Hope you enjoy it!
While spectators prepare to view two rare solar eclipses in parts of the U.S., SwRI scientists are preparing for unique research. Tune in to the Technology Today podcast as @astronamir discusses eclipse safety and research for both exciting events!

So, yeah… we’re doing it again! Two total solar #eclipse2024 experiments at once (chasing the eclipse with the WB-57 airplanes, and @citizenCATE2024) — it’s gonna be a blast!
NASA recently approved funding for an experiment led by SwRI’s Amir Caspi @astronamir to chase next year’s total solar eclipse using WB-57 high-altitude aircraft. The experiment builds on a similar program that successfully imaged the 2017 eclipse.

#CATE2024 team traveled nearly 10,000 miles for one minute of totality to observe the Sun’s corona during a total solar eclipse. The Australian eclipse serves both as a scientific opportunity & training exercise in preparation for the 2024 U.S. eclipse.
