We're getting backed to the edge of a precipice and simultaneously herded into the embrace of fascism
France: Maize growers said on Tuesday that this year's harvest will be about half of 2025's, roughly 7.3 million tonnes, the lowest since 1976, after drought and heatwaves.

Do you know what's bad for *my* mental health Alistair? Turning on the TV of the morning and being confronted with sociopaths like yourself knowing the horrors you are responsible for, and that you will never be held accountable.
Thanks @BBCBreakfast for a sensitive and insightful interview re 📕 Persevilience, and for the focus on mental health and my friend Lindsay. Great to bump into old friends in the Green Room. Ian and Kath have definitely got Persevilience!! And early Tree of the Day outside the Beeb in Manchester (left) Ps (no Fiona I didn’t wear a dirty jumper on set!)

Can’t these kids just have a famous dad like Wilfred does? Wouldn’t that fix it?

I only found out about the Paris massacre of 17 October 1961 on twitter about 7 yrs ago. It is one of post war Europe's dirty little secrets. The skeletons are still in the Seine.
Incredible. Don’t forget on 17th of October, 1961 France killed hundreds (exact number is unknown) of Algerians dressed in their best clothing protesting in the most ‘civilized’ way in Paris. Their bodies were thrown in the river. In addition, 12,000 Algerians were detained by police. This was during the Algerian war of independence.

I thought I was going to feel gatekeep-y about THE DEVILS, but seeing my entire timeline be people making memes about it and loving it is bringing me immeasurable joy. Never in a million years could I have expected this, and it's so much fun to see everyone get swept up by it!

Kind of gives the game away that the proscription was only ever intended to criminalise a certain kind of person. And actually if you're well connected suddenly everyone understands it'd be stupid to arrest you for a tweet.

The BBC has a fascinating, broken relationship with commercial media - constantly taking its cues from an industry where most of the business models are in a long-term death spiral, and replicating their shoddy content, despite facing none of those constraints itself.

The level of legalised age discrimination against the young in this country is insane.
Excl: Milburn to recommend separate welfare system for the young that gives them lower cash benefits but more intensive job support He will argue that young people who have never worked need a system on v different principles to older workers going off sick

A *political and media class* that has gone insane. None of this shit came from the public, it is entirely our leaders and their media friends who did this, working together.

Original McCarthyism didn’t stop because US politicians discovered a sense of decency. It ended because it was targeted at the army: real people, who matter. If drunken Joe had the sense to stick to harassing writers and actors, he could’ve kept going theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

The ‘I’m just supporting women’s sex based rights’ cult absolutely have trans people’s lives being at risk as their end goal. And the more the inevitable happens, the more they will deny it’s real.

Finding a murdered child's body and using the skull as a ashtray in a bar because you thought it was an Indigenous child and only feeling bad once you discovered it was a white child's body really shows how dehumanized Indigenous people are!

This is the attitude behind every racist shitbag on this platform. Part of a little girl’s skull was found near Mackay in Qld. The skull was taken to the local pub. The locals used it as a communal ashtray. Why? Because they thought it was an Indigenous girl’s skill. They felt bad only when it was revealed to be from a white girl’s murder. Forget the spin, forget how innocuous they pretend to be, THIS is who they really are. abc.net.au/news/2026-10-15/m…
