TWO MEN CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING
SAULT STE MARIE POLICE SERVICE MEDIA RELEASE
On September 19, 2026, detectives with Investigation Services charged 40-year-old Sahan Alam of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and 29-year-old Hasan Al-Mamun of Sudbury, Ontario, with kidnapping after an interception by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers.
Shortly after 10:15 p.m., 911 Communicators were informed the two accused were detained by CBSA officers for suspected kidnapping when they observed a 15-year-old inside the vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the CBSA Sault Ste. Marie port of entry and arrested both accused.
An investigation revealed the two accused had picked up the youth earlier that day and would not allow them to leave the vehicle. While reportedly attempting to drive the victim to a hotel, the accused made a wrong turn onto the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge and were intercepted by CBSA officers when they attempted to re-enter Canada. Neither accused is well known to the victim.
Both accused were charged with kidnapping and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

What say you @TerrySheehanMP ? Thousands of your constituents are vetted and legal gun owners! We’ve been entrusted with our property and have safely stored it for over 6 years now, and gun crime is still climbing and your government is still persecuting us! It’s time to stop 🛑
Six years after the prohibition of many makes and models of modern sporting rifles by the Canadian government, property that has been owned for decades by responsible individuals - and those individuals are still in possession of it and will be for at least another year, at this point.
The government is answering itself with this amnesty extension and recognizing that those who owned this property legally before the prohibitions are trusted to continue to store it. If that's the case, then this program should be scrapped entirely and the focus solely turned on the border and organized crime - the real factors behind violence in our communities.
Scrap the confiscation program and get serious about making our communities safer instead of continuing this attack on some of Canada's best people.
