Connecticut’s response to a tragic child abuse case is to regulate 50,000 innocent homeschoolers. This isnt child protection. It’s institutional blame-shifting. Homeschool families in every state should pay attention.

Homeschool mom explains 3 things you can never convince her of! If you're a homeschool family, what are some things people will never be able to convince you of?

A woman was legally required to kill her baby in the third trimester because the “commissioning parents” for the surrogacy demanded it, and threatened a lawsuit. The baby was missing two fingers, so the people purchasing this precious child demanded it be aborted, per their contract. This is eugenics. It’s murder. It’s a baby trade, and it needs to be criminalized.

Something fascinating is happening in education right now. I recently went down a rabbit hole researching homeschooling, and the data is fascinating. Research from the National Home Education Research Institute shows homeschool students typically score 15–25 percentile points higher on standardized tests, and about 78% of peer-reviewed studies show homeschool students outperforming traditional school students academically. But what really surprised me was seeing it firsthand. I recently ran a financial literacy course through Classical Learner, and I was blown away by the students. One 14 year old was running a business with nine employees. And I began teaching a 9 year old the Buy Borrow Die strategy. Can you imagine learning a strategy used by billionaire families to build wealth… at age nine? What I saw with these homeschool students is that they weren’t memorizing facts for a test. They were thinking, building, and solving real problems. This ties directly into neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself during childhood based on experience and learning environments. Research from Harvard University, Stanford University, and MIT shows that learning environments focused on problem solving and curiosity produce stronger long-term outcomes than education built primarily around memorization. Which leads to a simple observation. Students raised in environments that encourage independent thinking, entrepreneurship, and curiosity develop skills that compound over time. And that creates a massive competitive advantage for life. The great news for America is that roughly 7.8% of American children are now being homeschooled, and that number continues to rise as families look for education that prioritizes curiosity, entrepreneurship, and independent thinking. I need links to back these stats up.
NYTimes: We need to regulate homeschooling; we can't trust parents. Public School: 40% of kids bullied, 30% sexually harassed, 34% read at grade level, $18K a year. Homeschoolers: 0% bullied, 0% sexually harassed, 99% read above grade level, $1000 a year. Wild.

Concerning behavior and discipline in special education, there’s a phrase that quietly runs the whole show: “manifestation determination.” Translation: when a student with a disability does something dangerous or wildly disruptive, a team has to decide whether the behavior is a “manifestation” of the disability. If they say yes, real consequences are severely limited. So the most volatile students become the hardest to remove, and the rest of the kids are told *by policy* that their right to safety and learning is secondary. It’s you've wondered how the school system sacrifices twenty kids on the altar of one child’s paperwork, this is it.

I’ve always homeschooled with a biblical worldview in mind, striving to teach my kids about the world through a scriptural lens. I was not prepared for the crazy groups within Christianity that would emerge touting racism, nationalism, legalism, and other forms of unbiblical beliefs and practices. Goodness gracious! As a parent, it’s important to be thoroughly grounded in the Word, and to understand the times.

The problem: “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God”. - Romans 8:5-8 The solution: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

I got choked up more than once while pausing to explain why the things Charlie said here were important, but we did it! I’m going to pin the first post to my profile, and I’ll add the videos we use each day in the comments. I’m going to pick videos that are appropriate for my kids, but check them out first to make sure the topics covered are ones you’re comfortable with your kids hearing.
A lot of moms are asking if I'll start a thread to share the videos that I choose to use. I'll try to do that, and I think this will be a good one to begin with.

When things are moving very fast and people are losing their minds, it’s important to stay grounded. Turn off your phone, read scripture, spend time with friends, and remember internet fury is not real life. It’s going to be ok.
