Franklin Chang-Diaz... 'You don't want to plan your career on what you see now! You need to plan based on what may be in the Future!' It will be very different in the future for astronauts in government, commercial and tourists withdifferent jobs! #IAC2022

What skillsets do we need on long term missions e.g. Mars? A. depends on # of astronauts we have... if we only small # then need to be multiskilled, if have lots of people can have specialists. Also depends on the skillset e.g. may need a fully trained Medic. #IAC2022
Even in Space experiments sometimes don't go to plan... Jay C Buckey explains a funny story where they were doing experiments on Rats in space and lost one. They had to go find it and discovered it had floated up into one of the ducts. #IAC2022

Make sure you follow along and watch the DART impact at dart.jhuapl.edu/ And sign up as a Plantary Defender: dart.jhuapl.edu/Planetary-De… The mission will be monitored by Telescopes around the world (including Aus) as well as Hubble and JWST. #IAC2022 @JHUAPL

Patrick Michel: How do we predict how we can deflect asteroids or how to take samples? We experiment & study the surface & composition of asteroids! We model the asteroids and collisions, but can only model what we know. We get data from experiments like Hyabusa Dart & HERA
"Cooperation is key" need to collaborate to ensure we are all on the same page in understanding where satellites are and the risk they pose to us. This includes the in-space early warning NEOMIR which will detect asteroids quickly! Richard Mossi, Planetary Defence @esa #IAC2022

Bhavya Lal explains @NASA's strategy to Defend Eart from Asteroids... . Search, Detect & Track - characterise - Plan & Coordinate - Assess - Mitigate Need to use a range of methods to detect eg IR to detect 'dark' asteroids we can't see in the visible spectrum #IAC2022
