I have been warning of Bitcoin fatigue for many *years*, especially in my "post maximalism" essay (2018)
Unfortunately, few heeded my warnings. Now, the disaster has come to pass.
The fatigue is from:
- bs politics
- no soft fork upgrades
- lying to ourselves, constantly about lightning (et all)
- courting the NGU class (Saylor et al)
- courting the "toxic" class whilst not having our own act together
- hating on users (for example ordinals)
The sad truth is: Bitcoin has, in fact, been dying the last 10 years. Not economically or technically -- but culturally.

The changing tone of Chinese discourse about Ukraine is remarkable. Obviously splitting Europe from the U.S. has long been a PRC strategic objective, but until Trump it was impossible without sacrificing Beijing’s relationship with Russia.
The West shouldn’t take Ukraine for granted:
“Ukrainians still overwhelmingly want to belong to the West. But many have begun preparing for the possibility that they never will.”
China would stand to benefit.

a message to coinbase:
we talk about onboarding constantly but fail to address the low hanging fruit
when i signed up for coinbase in 2017, there were only 3 coins - BTC, ETH, and LTC. litecoin sucks, but BTC and ETH are both up 10-20x
now when a newb signs up for coinbase, they see 300+ shitcoins. i can't even imagine trying to figure out which ones to buy. most of these will continue to bleed to zero
coinbase needs to get back to basics. remove all this trash from your platform and keep 5 or so established winners. stop confusing retail if you want them to join us. they can learn how to use the chains if they want to buy coins that aren't listed. this is actually net positive and consistent with my own journey
whether john smith buys a shitcoin that loses 80% of its value, or buys bitcoin which goes up next year, he will tell a friend about it. the difference is he will tell his friend that crypto is a scam if he bought the loser
