Big agree the fees on alt/fanatics are actually super reasonable once you take the time to learn more
Huge fan of crypto rails for tcg / collectibles and build in the space myself, but just wanted to clear up misunderstandings around buyers premiums.
The 20-22% buyers premium on auctions should be baked into the final price / comp of the card (when you look at price history on alt/cardladder, they report on final price). For tcg, all these auction houses pay most of the buyers premium to the sellers. E.g. auction house I work with pays me 115% of hammer, buyer pays 120% of hammer so I get 96% of the final sale.
In addition they provide
- dedicated rep that responds within 20 mins almost 24/7, who each have their own ops team to resolve issues quickly
- free insured shipping of any value, including armored card transport
- active customer engagement with a buyer base I will never have access to (literal billionaires and Forbes 150 guys)
IMO they more than earned their fee. I’m 100% rooting for tcg rwa platforms but would encourage we focus on the real differentiators

Unless you vertically integrate and show a credible path to owning models, app, tokens, cloud, data centers and silicon the risk of being a hi volume, low profit company is abnormally high in this sector because value is accruing and changing so rapidly.

Don’t use AI to save yourself time by wasting someone else’s.
Lazy work used to mean too little output.

A "Slop Grenade" is when you let AI produce the work and pass it on without adding any value (including checking it).
