I don't recommend anyone scramble to move their funds to new wallets today. But we should take the risks to cryptography from AI-accelerated math seriously, and minimize our exposure to not just quantum-vulnerable cryptography, but also potentially AI-vulnerable cryptography.
The core new area of risk from this viewpoint is, unfortunately, ML-DSA / FHE / lattices.
(and it's also another reason, along with quantum, why ECDSA might fall even faster than expected, hence the "fresh address" recommendation)
So far most people have been in the mode of thinking "elliptic curves broken, hashes safe, lattices safe". But there is a good chance that the concrete security of lattices will take serious hits from the next two years of AI math.
The basic threat model is: factoring is something that naively takes 2^(n/2) time, but over decades smart people have found and optimized number field sieves, and degraded that to 2^O(n^(1/3)), which is why RSA keys and signatures need to be ~400 bytes (and not 64 bytes). What if there are skeletons in the closet like that, both for elliptic curves and lattices, that we are simply not smart enough to discover - but bots soon will be?
This is a major part of the reason why for the past year ethereum's lean roadmap has been going in the "hash-only" direction: no lattices, no ML-DSA, no Falcon, no lattice-based commitments inside ZK proofs, etc. Signatures in lean ethereum are all hash-based, either WOTS or SPHINCS-.
For signatures and proofs, we already know how to go hash-only. The bigger challenge is for *public-key encryption* - and this goes far beyond blockchains. Secure communication, anonymizing protocols, lots of things need public-key encryption.
And unfortunately there are long-standing mathematical theorems showing why public-key encryption cannot be done with hashes alone. You have to have some kind of trapdoor object that has at least one form of usable "structure" - either group theory (incl. isogenies) or lattices or code-based or potentially in the future even more newfangled and spooky things (local mixing?). But for anything that has structure, you should assume that AI will make at least some progress in breaking that structure. Here, one reasonable inference is that if you want to make something plausibly long-term secure, multiply the key sizes by 10.
To me that's a very plausible world and something not at all extreme to predict. If AI will bring us 50 years of math in 2 years, then that 50 years of math may very plausibly include a "naive factoring -> GNFS" level of improvement to our ability to break lattices. In that world, lattices will still exist, but they will have to be significantly bigger to guarantee the same level of safety.
And at those new larger sizes, hash-based constructions will beat lattice-based constructions on concrete efficiency in every use case where hash-based constructions are possible at all.
Theoretically, of course it's possible that hashes are broken too (eg. P = NP would imply that). But I think P = NP is very unlikely. And intuitively, it's much more likely that a mathematical object has exactly no exploitable structure (like hashes are intended to), than that a mathematical object has exactly ~3 forms of exploitable structure (for elliptic curves: associativity, Schoof, pairings) and not some secret fourth form of structure we have not yet discovered that greatly degrades its security (for elliptic curves, ECDLP and pairing security). Similar for LWE, SVP, RLWE and the zoo of lattice problems.
For this reason, we do not yet see any reason to worry and start padding the byte size of hashes (if we start to worry more, we would pad the round count first before doing anything to the byte size).
Concrete TLDR, my own personal views:
* Hash-based > lattice-based, in those situations where hash-based is possible at all
* For anything lattice-based, be much more paranoid on param sizes. Remember that blockchains are only a small portion of the cryptography story; this point goes far beyond blockchains and applies to eg. access to websites, secure messaging, Tor / VPNs ...
* For privacy protocols, strongly favor NOT putting encrypted notes onchain. Instead, send them offchain through some third-party mechanism.
* If it's not difficult for you, keeping your funds in addresses which have not yet been used to make a transaction is a good idea. If it's easy for you, do it. **But be careful about migrations; I personally have lost more money in botched migrations than I have lost in all hacks combined**.
* For multisig wallets, doing confirmations offchain is better than onchain, because this way the signatures of signer wallets do not get exposed to the public, so if ECDSA falls to AI much faster than expected, at least the multisig "gracefully degrades" to a 1-of-1 where the 1 is whoever was gathering the signatures - a much better place to be than "anyone can take the money"

BREAKING: Vitalik states that @Pumpfun has killed memecoins by turning new retail investors entering the crypto space into degenerate gamblers and with no real-world use, the industry will die fast.
He also stated that @pumpfun has been a net negative to crypto since it was released in 2024 by draining the $crypto ecosystem and turning retail into gamblers not investors.
He also said the platform is setup like a slot machine you keep clicking until your fully drained - pump ultimately wins but retail loses.

阅读全文: wublock123.com/articles/vita…

Vitalik:AI

My mentor taught me that geo arbitrage will always be the thing that makes money
You just copy whatever is making money in the west, make it a little bit better and more local, and sell it in other countries
Me and a friend grew to $350k mrr making a malaysian openclaw alternative and we pretty much just stole the whole playbook
There are literally endless opportunities like this

thoughts on Robinhood chain eco
ON A MACRO LEVEL
Robinhood chain didn't take off because it has superior tech
otherwise Optimism, Arbitrum (which RH chain is built on), etc would be among the top EVMs today
it took off because Robinhood is one of the world's most significant retail trading platforms, with tens of millions of users who are generally wealthier than the average CEX user cohort
crypto participants have also long considered Robinhood the cream of the crop for exchange listings
rumors of an incoming Robinhood listing have fueled some of the biggest memecoin/altcoin rallies in crypto history
Robinhood's role in the $DOGE + $SHIB mania of 2021 only cemented that status
now you have a Robinhood chain where people believe tokens launched there have a higher probability of eventually being listed on Robinhood
that's an extremely powerful flywheel
more devs launch on the chain
more users buy on the chain
more liquidity flows in
and i think people counting out Robinhood chain are going to find out just how powerful this narrative can be in a proper bull run
WHY THE RECENT WEAKNESS?
1. RH eco coins pumped giga hard
a lot of RH eco coins simply needed a cooldown
$PONS went from ~$30m to $960m+ in weeks before the bull run has even kicked off
a ~50% correction after that kind of move is completely normal and can set the stage for another explosive leg
same applies across the eco
2. Solana stepped up
the Robinhood retail distribution narrative was a major catalyst
but apathy and a lack of action from Solana for a while leading to the emergence of Robinhood chain also helped fuel the initial RH chain explosion
that has changed
Solana has stepped up and made it clear they remain a force to contend with this cycle
with liquidity still relatively constrained, that naturally diverted some flows away from Robinhood chain
but i don't think liquidity will stay constrained forever
soon there should be enough liquidity to accommodate serious activity on BOTH Robinhood chain and Solana
and of course BNB chain (i mean this goes without saying)
3. lack of follow through from Robinhood
this is probably the easiest problem to fix
if the biggest catalyst behind the chain was the Robinhood distribution channel, people will eventually lose interest if barely anything gets listed
Robinhood listing $CASHCAT so early was bullish and helped spark the second wave of activity on the chain
but they've listed almost nothing else from the ecosystem three months into launch
that's a bad signal
$PONS went from ~$30m to almost $1b, became a major driver of activity and at one point contributed ~50% of chain activity
it's perhaps the most successful new launche of the past year in all of crypto
yet it still hasn't been listed by Robinhood
same with $AI
it's the flagship token of Long, the second biggest launchpad on RH chain
it's also a top-tier memecoin that brought significant attention to the chain during its run to $350m+
i don't own $AI, but i'm surprised it isn't on Robinhood
from the outside, it's difficult to understand why $PONS and $AI haven't been listed yet
and i'm not claiming to know Robinhood's internal listing criteria or regulatory considerations
but the longer the biggest successes on the chain go without Robinhood distribution, the weaker the core ecosystem flywheel becomes
if devs and users stop believing that building on Robinhood chain gives them a meaningful distribution advantage, some of the chain's biggest differentiators disappear
and that's what contributed to momentum stalling alongside the other factors above
the good news?
this is the easiest problem to fix
and i'd actually love to see Robinhood throw something much lower cap and more degen into the mix
could be something like robinhood:0xe8ffd7e24187f72afb08d75b1bb13088a989a791 (the leading RH-native liquidity layer) or $BOW (the leading RH-native lending market) — could also be some other low cap, but i mentioned both since they have a strong narrative and justification, which likely attract even more builders/users to the chain
that would create speculation that ANYTHING could get listed
and that kind of uncertainty is exactly what fuels degeneracy
it is very clear that @vladtenev has been strategic and calculated in how he's leading the chain
he also has his ears on the ground and understands the trenches
so i'm not particularly concerned about #3 over a long enough timeframe
ABOUT THE HOOD SUMMIT
i've seen people say the HOOD Summit was bearish for Robinhood chain because the RH eco didn't massively pump during or after the event
i think that's missing the bigger picture
a lot of people expected the Summit to be a catalyst for the next leg up
that catalyst didn't come
but what happened next is more interesting
the RH eco held up
there was no major 'sell the news' dump
after an event with that much anticipation, that's significant
the important signal to me is that the eco absorbed the event without breaking down
that makes me think the recent weakness may have largely run its course
i think the next leg up across Robinhood chain comes soon
i don't know exactly when or what the catalyst will be
maybe some Vlad Tenev wizardry + Robinhood listings
maybe something completely unexpected
TO CONCLUDE...
a lot of people love Robinhood
and their team has made a lot of the right moves so far
they have a massive advantage through the Robinhood retail platform
and they can weaponize that distribution advantage to drive sustained activity on their chain
the Robinhood narrative only gets more powerful as the market and altcoins heat up
i think the biggest question now is simply how aggressively Robinhood chooses to capitalize on the ecosystem it has created
count out Robinhood chain at your own peril!
seeing how hard CT has fudded Robinhood chain over the past week or two
i genuinely wouldn't be surprised if most people on this app are once again completely sidelined when the next wave hits
Robinhood brought life back to the trenches when everyone thought the cycle was dead
and now it is increasingly looking like Robinhood chain has everything it needs to be THE chain of this cycle:
→ by far one of the biggest retail distribution networks in crypto
→ strong fundamentals
→ massive narrative
→ increasingly strong positioning
→ Robinhood's 30m+ funded retail customer base
and Vlad Tenev + Robinhood are absolute masters at turning major events into catalysts
they may have their BIGGEST catalyst since the chain launched coming in just a few days
and CT is fudding it harder than ever
i couldn't ask for a better setup
because this is exactly how people get caught sleeping on the next leg
they fade it
they watch it rip
then suddenly everyone discovers how bullish Robinhood chain is
and starts aping our bags
except by then...
they'll be buying our bags MUCH higher
the trenches are about to get very interesting
