Another random thought, how the fuck does a 100M+ company who’s only mission is encryption and hardware security not buy a few of its products from every distributor X times a year and physically check the hardware???
Recent Ledger revelations underscore importance of highest security for personal genome data.

AI is the world’s intellectual commons
there is an argument (which I've made privately until now) that one of the principal innovations of the large language model labs is a *legal* innovation, not a technical one
by building a system that hoovers up mind-bogglingly large volumes of human information and feeds it into a recombinatorial association machine, the companies have bulldozed the existing IP regime and made the contents of ~all human IP (including the most mundane) searchable, reconfigurable, and usable while also obscuring any trace of origin and eliminating a need to provide credit or attribution. much of the perceived benefit is therefore access and exposure to IP people would not otherwise have had access to, presented behind a system that abstracts the IP from its context and history and presents it as net-new information.
I imagine we would have seen ~similar productivity outcomes had Google actually been allowed to make productive use of the Google Books database over a decade ago.

from now on if we get on a zoom with someone, they have to give us instructions on how to do something illegal so we know it’s a human being

I used AI to explain the AI Doomer drama, with Lord of the Rings and kittens.
No. Ethereum must be the place where billions earn their daily bread. Or it withers & dies.
we're heading towards complete retardation man. the vast majority of the world is not fucking ready for self-sovereignty and probably never will be. wallets have sucked ass at protecting normal users for over a decade. seed phrases & private keys are an utterly shit security model for humans (oh, and multisigs are great but people protect their 3/5 multisig with the same seed, so also full retard mode). and yet we're still pretending this is the future of finance. it's fucking not. most of this industry is a VC exit-liquidity circle jerk where the end user ultimately eats the loss in some form. maybe the answer isn't mass adoption. maybe the answer is staying fucking small. small, weird, technical, paranoid, adversarial, and hard to capture. the smaller and more niche we stay, the more dangerous and long-lasting this industry becomes. being small is a feature.

Starship transiting the Sun this morning during Flight 14 — prior to this morning's mission, this has never been captured before with the world's largest and most powerful rocket.
I’ve ached over this shot for years, mainly for two reasons: what does methane exhaust look like silhouetted against the Sun, and how violent are the acoustic energy waves from 33 Raptor engines on the Super Heavy booster?
Well...now we have an answer.

“Blockchains are just finance” plebs in shambles. Long live the cryptographic world computer. Long live Ethereum.
Bullish.
The cryptographic world computer:
vitalik.eth.limo/general/202…
My attempt to express in somewhat concise terms the true meaning of basically everything planned to happen to Ethereum starting from the fork after Hegota. It's really not just a blockchain anymore. It's a hybrid architecture that combines together blockchains and modern cryptography, to enable much more powerful properties.
FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, state management, formal verification, advanced mempool improvements (including privacy), and the longer-term specter of obfuscation all mentioned.
“Blockchains become compelling solutions to the legal problem of proving who did what when.” 🤯 @jmartink

The collective humiliation ritual around AI resets is especially dark considering it’s bots ultimately deciding the resets, not people.
Blessed with a bunch of cloud H100s
Now running Qwen 3.8 27B & DeepSeek v4.1 Flash, with browser use, swarms, etc.
Tired of range anxiety of “Pro” plans throttling out. Jealous of AI researchers’ unlimited token budgets.

At times, the joy that life attacks me with is unbearable and leads to gasping hysterical laughter. I find myself completely out of control and wonder how could life could surprise me again and again and again, so completely. How could a man be a cynic? It is a sin.
Rules keep things in order, but empathy keeps us human.
I manage a local daycare with a firm rule: pick-up is 6:00 PM, and late arrivals pay $2 a minute. One night at 6:45 PM, a young mother rushed in wearing hospital scrubs, looking completely worn out. Her fine came out to $90. Clutching her toddler, she apologized through tears and explained that severe understaffing forced her to stay for shift change. She accepted the fee, but begged me not to drop her child from the program.
Seeing how exhausted she was, I opened the billing system and cleared the $90 charge. Then I went to the kitchen, packed up three leftover plates of baked ziti, and handed her the warm food. "According to the system, you got here at 5:59," I said with a wink. "Take this home so you don't have to cook tonight." Rules keep things in order, but empathy keeps us human.
