I think late millenials/early genz had the best tech experience. I used to have 1 device for each thing I wanted to do:
- Ipod/MP3 Player for music
- Laptop for projects/school
- Gameboy/DS for solo gaming
- PS2/Wii for gaming with friends
- Phone for call and texts
- TV for watching stuff live
- DVD player for movies
- Books for reading (before kindles)
It just felt mentally tidy to switch devices when you wanted to do something and in the software, there was no competition for your attention like you get with smart phones.
The dumb phones have interested me and I've been tempted to buy some of them but I think theres often too many compromises. You just don't know when you might need a random app to do something IRL and I think a lot of them ignore the fact that you kind of need to be able to manage your money on the go. And AI adds more complexity/opportunity too going forward.
Also, I think physical separation is still the best mental model. I would probably pay for a suite of hardware that lets me do each of these things + has a unified AI that can perform very specific controls on each device
Most of the AI one shot stuff you see on tl is fake
But I think the Astra ones coming out today are real 🙌
If Astra is going to be as good at front end as the previews suggest then theres really nothing else Claude will have an edge on imo
if anyone can join with my local.ai ref code, that would be appreciated

Using claude these days is like getting a $100 bill for playing a game of chess on dialup internet

With AI getting as good as it is, we're reaching a stage where your data is becoming extremely portable regardless of where it is
Generative UI already popular but I could see an alternative where you can craft a personal operating system, plug in data/apps and make it work and look exactly how you want it to
