A few weeks ago my family got news we weren't prepared for. My sister Kate was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian carcinosarcoma - a rare and extremely aggressive form of cancer that spreads fast and is life-threatening.
It started with pain in June, while she was living in Croatia. Doctors found a tumour on her right ovary and she had emergency surgery. Four weeks later she was back in hospital. The cancer had already returned and was growing rapidly.
There was no time to think. We brought her to Munich, to TUM, one of the leading oncology centres in the world. She started chemotherapy on August 26. Six cycles are planned.
Kate is 34. An artist and a designer. A month ago her life was work, travel, plans, people who love her.
Like many Ukrainians, our family had to leave home. Kate has no German health insurance, which means every euro of her treatment comes out of our own pocket - chemotherapy, scans, specialist care, medication, and everything that comes with moving your entire life to another country for treatment.
We need to raise €200,000 to cover the full cycle of her treatment. We don't have that money.
So I'm asking you. Every dollar matters. Every like, every repost, every comment matters.
