Morgan Stanley's brokers hated their security chief's fire drills. 2,687 of them walked out of the South Tower alive.
Rick Rescorla was a Vietnam veteran who ran security for the firm. After the 1993 truck bombing, he told his company the building would be hit again, from the air, and they should leave. They had a lease.
So he drilled them instead. Every three months, no warning. Everybody out, in pairs, down forty flights. Executives included. Traders in the middle of deals. For eight years they complained bitterly.
At 8:46 a.m. on September 11, the building announcement told everyone in the South Tower to stay at their desks.
Rescorla ignored it, picked up a bullhorn, and started moving 2,700 people down the stairs. When the second plane hit, most of them were already below the impact.
Then he went back up for the stragglers. His body was never found.
He made them practice for eight years for something that was never going to happen.
It happened, and they already knew the way down. 🇺🇸

Good morning.
Christ is King.
Charlie Kirk is a Christian Martyr.
We wept bitterly putting this together...
Charlie told us exactly what his legacy would be. Charlie did not fear death because he knew Jesus Christ.
Just hours before he was assassinated, Charlie stood on stage, openly proclaiming his love for Jesus. He lived every moment guided by that faith, and in the end, he was taken home by his Savior.
Charlie showed us what it means to live, and die, with purpose.
This is the legacy he leaves...

I parked in my driveway with sixteen plastic grocery bags from Kroger and a twenty-four pack of bottled water.
I opened the trunk.
I planned to take four bags inside, come back, take four more, and make four dignified, comfortable trips.
My neighbor Brad was standing by his garage.
Brad was carrying his own groceries.
Brad had seven plastic bags hanging from each wrist.
He had a watermelon trapped under his left armpit.
He had a twelve-pack of Coke clamped between his knees.
His fingers were bright purple.
His face was the color of a fresh tomato.
He was hobbling toward his front door like a man crossing a minefield.
I called out to him. "Brad! Why do you not make two trips?"
Brad stopped.
He did not turn his head, because turning his head would cause the watermelon to fall and the universe to collapse.
He spoke through his teeth.
"Two trips is for the weak. You bring it all, or you die in the driveway."
He kicked his screen door open with his heel, fell inside, and slammed the door with his hip.
I stood by my open trunk in silence.
Inside, my soul caught fire.
This was not grocery shopping. This was an ancient code of martial endurance.
In this country, making a second trip to the car is an admission of moral and physical failure.
A warrior does not retreat to the trunk.
I looped eight bags onto my left forearm.
I looped eight bags onto my right forearm.
I hoisted the forty-pound case of water against my chest with my chin clamped over the plastic.
The plastic handles immediately began cutting off all blood circulation to my hands.
My knuckles turned white, then blue, then gray.
I could no longer feel my fingers.
I took the first step.
The water shifted. A bag of soup cans swung violently against my shin.
Pain is an illusion. Honor is forever.
I reached the porch.
I did not have a free hand for the doorknob.
I used my forehead to turn the handle, kicked the heavy wooden door open with my knee, and stumbled into the kitchen.
I dropped the entire forty-eight pounds of groceries onto the island counter.
*THUD.*
I collapsed onto a barstool, breathing like a racehorse.
My forearms were covered in deep red indentations that looked like tiger stripes.
I had to wait nine minutes before my hands could hold a glass of water.
I looked through the kitchen window.
Brad was standing on his porch across the lawn, holding an ice pack against his wrist.
He saw me looking.
He raised his chin.
I raised my chin.
Not a single word was spoken.
I lost all sensation in my fingertips until Thursday.
I will never make two trips as long as I live.

This skateboard trick may never be eclipsed.
Danny León, a Spanish Olympic skateboarder, set up this shot and landed it during today's eclipse in Spain.
Perfect planning!

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is guarded twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year.
It has been guarded, without interruption, since 1937.
In September of 2003, Hurricane Isabel reached Washington. The National Park Service, out of concern, gave the sentinels of the Old Guard permission to stand down for the storm.
They did not stand down.
The sergeant of the guard on duty that night refused the permission, calmly, and without further comment. He would later say, in an interview, only that permission was not the same as an order, and that in the absence of an order, the walk continues.
The walk continues.
Twenty-one steps. Turn. Face the tomb. Twenty-one seconds. Turn. Face the other way. Twenty-one seconds. Twenty-one steps.
The rain came sideways.
A tree fell in the cemetery a hundred yards to the east.
The wind lifted a portion of the roof from a nearby maintenance shed.
The sentinel did not break stride.
He walked. He turned. He walked.
At 3 a.m. the wind reached seventy miles per hour, and a sentinel weighing 175 pounds in soaked wool, carrying a rifle, and wearing sunglasses in the dark because the manual requires them, walked twenty-one steps, turned, and walked twenty-one steps back.
Nobody was watching him.
Nobody could have watched him. The cemetery had been closed. The public had been evacuated. The only witness was the storm.
He walked for six hours.
He was relieved at 6:12 a.m.
The tomb had not been left, at any point during the storm, uncovered.
There is no medal for this.
There is no ribbon. There is no citation. There is no commendation in his file.
The Old Guard does not require one.
The walk is the point.
The walk was the walk before there was a country to record it, and the walk will be the walk after everyone who remembers this night is gone.
Somewhere in America, at this moment, in whatever weather, a sentinel is walking twenty-one steps beside a marble slab, facing an unknown man whose name he does not know, for an oath he took to a country that will never see him take it.
That is what the promise looks like when nobody is watching.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Michigan's DEMOCRAT Attorney General reported "INDUSTRIAL-GRADE VOTER FRAUD" to the Biden DOJ, and NOTHING was done about it
Michigan State Police even RAIDED a Democrat get-out-the-vote group, and was SO concerned that they contacted the FBI in 2020. But it was BRUSHED UNDER THE RUG under Biden.
Biden was COMPLICIT!
